Wall jumping at first for me was a nightmare, but some practice with the timing and forcing myself to press the directional button before 'jump' solved it, thank god. The biggest breakthrough in that was making sure that I accurately pressed either left or right and not accidentally pressing 'up' while rolling my thumb back and forth. As for controls there @BigBen9719 I use: Jump: A,Shoot: B,Item: Y,Cancel item: X, Dash: L ,Aim Up: R; no need for Aim Down. Using Classic Controller Pro, as GCN 'n Std suck.

you can get up there without high jump! just on the tiny platform and run then jump @ the right time, then walljump off the part that is sticking out! i did that when I first played the and no idea the boots exzisted! i was 7 and now im 11

Someone may have already said it, but yes u can get into kraid's lair early by doing a running jump off the ledge then u might have to wall jump off the platform. It is easy to do once u do it once.
Why do people find wall jumping hard or tricky. It is extremly easy to do, its very simple actually. Its easy to learn it and do it, the tricky part is to MASTER it so that you never ever ever make a mistake while wall jumping. In that little section u go down to get the bomb ability when you go back up u can either bomb the wall to the right, or wall jump up the left and quickly turn into the morph ball to get through the tunnel, this took me a very long time to do, now i can easily do it.
@ShrivyShrivey Sumersault toward a wall, then press the D-pad button oposite of the wall right when you hit the wall, imediatly press the jump button, and i mean imedialty its so fast its almost at the same time when you press the D-pad button. It may sound difficult here but thats just me making it sound difficult its very simple. You can wall jump single walls or jump back and forth between the left and right walls. Hope this helps whoever reads this.
@Zman31299 No you dont have to. To get up without wall jumping get the ice beam and freeze those flying creatures and then you can use them as platforms and jump up until you get to the top then shoot the floor above to jump up and get through.

You know how people always call this "Power Bombs early?" I've always wondered about that. If you have the tools you need to climb up that vertical shaft by the time you get there and open the appropriate doors, does it really count as "early?"

Congratulations, you have just discovered the "n00b bridge." The n00b bridge is so named because the game trolls players who did not read their manuals or check their button mappings.
The trick to cross the collapsing blocks is to hold down the run button (yes, there is a mapped run button) as you make haste. A running start is recommended.

@axehunter9 you dont need to break all three. If your speedrunning involving sequence breaks just break one and machball into it. Then just get a running start from the opposite wall where the two remaining missle walls are and walljump.
If you wanna get out easily too. you and run down the blue playform, shoot a super missle and machball out and down to elevator to obtain high jump boots speed booster ice and wave beam.

The good thing about having the Zsnes Emulator is I love the fact that you can save and lode your state anywhere you want in the game as many times you want. You can also make your own recording or movie of your gameplay to!!!Thats awsome!!! :)
Dude!! I have the Zsnes emulator for this game and I kick ass with wall jumping by using my keyboard!! I find it Sooo much more easier playing this game using a keyboard than the original snes controller!!

And by the way, how do you wall jump so easily??? is there a special way? i taught myself that you have to jump when ur feet face the wall but its so hard!!!
Doesn't really matter if your feet or head is at the wall, basically it's about pushing the control stick away from the wall and hitting the jump button just a split second after that.
sequence breaking it kinda pointless if your going for 100% as u need to go get all the skipped stuff anyway. Still enjoyable to watch a few bits tho.

If you stand on the bottom ledge by Kraid, you can jump off and get in there without the Hi jump boots.
