One of my bassists talked to me about hearing some early Coleman Hawkins that sounded 'almost Bebop'. I think this may be the recording he was talking about.

WOW!! Go Hawk Go..... one of the most exciting tenor sax solos ever recorded. And a hell of a record. You would have thought that Hawkins and Waller were in this band from day one, they fit in so beautifully. A marvelous arrangement, and just one of the true classic late 20s hot jazz records. I'll love it forever!
