Twenty minutes in, and I have to say this is the most boring, pointless Final Fantasy game to date. The first 30 minutes of the game it's like a movie with no gameplay; you'll see cut-scenes of fighting over and over again. The storyline is hard to follow and is so random. I would not recommend buying this game.

If you look at it this way: X-2 was made only because of how good X was so square made X-2 however XIII(I liked it)was considered garbage by most of the FF fans, square now tryed their best to fix something "broken" but X-2 Wasn´t broken...or something like that

don't get me wrong tho, i love FF 13's story, it's really great..i just don'tlike how i have to think quicker now since the enemies attack you constantly..i just enjoyed the slow paced battle where you really had all the time in the world to make your decisions.

I'd say there's plenty of games that easily compete with FF7 for a variety of reasons, but FF7 has such a following that many other great games get pushed out. I don't know I'm really looking forward to it. The gameplay seems to have changed and although ff13 was extremely linear I still enjoyed the paradigm battle system. Also I think lightning is one the most amazing female characters in gaming ever!!!! Also the graphics are friggin amazing!!!!!!!!

The first step to appreciating the series is to accept that there will NEVER be another FF7. I honestly wasn't a big fan of the battle system either i just ended up using mainly all basic attacks all the time. plus party leader dying making a game over was incredibly annoying.

i've played it and it seems ok. i think this game will have alot more freedom than 13. the only thing i'll say is bad about this game is that they got rid of a really nippy character aka vanille and i dont know how they managed it but they surpassed vanilles annoying allways changing voice, imature nature and just plain annoying stupid body language. all that is surpassed by a little twat moogle that make me want to throw my pad at the screen. at least vanille was hot i hope mog dies at the end

I cannot bring myself to get FFXIII-2 because of how much I hated FFXIII. I hated Lightning and everybody (but Sazh), and I do not wish to play another game with them in it. I hated the gameplay in FFXIII because its a mutilated version of FFXII (great gameplay). I hated the pacing of FFXIII. I hated FFXIII's tunnel game and I hated how the shop is the Save Point.

I couldn't even beat the final boss because i didnt have that crown. I shouldn't have to watch out for a crown in order to beat a game. I gave up and watched the ending. it sucks i won't be getting an achievement, but at least FF 7,8,9,10 were beatable, with enough difficulty, and amazing storylines. What went wrong with Square?
i tried being a true FF fan while playing these, but i couldnt stick to this game. I would go into 2-3 months hiatus of playing this game because i never got hooked on it. The gameplay wasn't good. You don't have any emotional attachment to characters like you did with Aerith or Zidane. After you hit Gran Pulse, they raise the difficulty way to much.

I don't know I'm really looking forward to it. The gameplay seems to have changed and although ff13 was extremely linear I still enjoyed the paradigm battle system. Also I think lightning is one the most amazing female characters in gaming ever!!!! Also the graphics are friggin amazing!!!!!!!!

@crlake honestly, I think most of you guys are spoiled on FF7. Everyone would have loved FF13, had it not bore the title Final Fantasy. The first step to appreciating the series is to accept that there will NEVER be another FF7. Besides, comparing Squares games with most other titles out nowadays there isn't much room for complaining.

I honestly wasn't a big fan of the battle system either i just ended up using mainly all basic attacks all the time. plus party leader dying making a game over was incredibly annoying.

i've played it and it seems ok. i think this game will have alot more freedom than 13. the only thing i'll say is bad about this game is that they got rid of a really nippy character aka vanille and i dont know how they managed it but they surpassed vanilles annoying allways changing voice, imature nature and just plain annoying stupid body language. all that is surpassed by a little twat moogle that make me want to throw my pad at the screen. at least vanille was hot i hope mog dies at the end

I hated the gameplay in FFXIII because its a mutilated version of FFXII (great gameplay). I hated the pacing of FFXIII. I hated FFXIII's tunnel game and I hated how the shop is the Save Point.

I couldn't even beat the final boss because i didnt have that crown. I shouldn't have to watch out for a crown in order to beat a game. I gave up and watched the ending. it sucks i won't be getting an achievement, but at least FF 7,8,9,10 were beatable, with enough difficulty, and amazing storylines. What went wrong with Square?

i tried being a true FF fan while playing these, but i couldnt stick to this game. I would go into 2-3 months hiatus of playing this game because i never got hooked on it. The gameplay wasn't good. You don't have any emotional attachment to characters like you did with Aerith or Zidane. After you hit Gran Pulse, they raise the difficulty way to much.

soccer fan, you couldnt be more wrong.it was flashy, and the battle system was acceptable, but everything else sucked.the linear maps, the bland characters, with names like hope, snow, lightnening, and the generic minority character sazh(shitty name also)anyone who is a true fan of the ff series was dissapointed with this one.if it was the second or third installment of a ff on this console, it would overlookable, but since thats not the case, it simply unnacceptable.

Maybe its not my favorite FF game - 7 holds that spot - but I thought it was a really fun play and worth the time to get through it. Doesn't matter that it didn't follow what you think should be the FF archetype; it was still a good game with a good battle system, good story, and good music that a lot of 'true' FF fans did like. Sorry you felt like you wasted your time.

I really dislike both the names and the non-roaming feature in ff13=/ The whole reason for playing Final Fantasy in general is being able to "live" a totally different world and ACTUALLY being able to "experience" it, even if it were to be thru a little character on a t.v screen.
