If you had a big enough problem with that usage, you might even go to some lengths to persuade others that it is insensitive as well. Matthew Shepard is a gay college student who was murdered because of his sexuality in 1998. His murder shocked people of the U.S and Matthew Shepard Act against hate crime was passed afterward.

African Americans had to earn their respect, you guys should take a lesson. When African Americans show their pride in parades and gatherings, they don't perpetuate the worst stereotypes that people have of them, they show people why they should be respected. Gay people hurt their own image far more than anyone saying "that's so gay" ever could!

So when the Declaration of Independence says "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness," you feel it meant "Except for Black people. They still have to earn their civil rights?" And who is "you guys." Friend, stop incriminating yourself as one of the arrogant ignoramuses of the world.

Yeah, they had to earn their respect because people wouldn't give it to them! So rather than pissing and moaning about it, they decided to take a stand and show the racist morons that they were worthy of respect. They shouldn't have needed to, but when they weren't getting the respect that they deserved they made a positive statement and changed things.

Oh, and by "you guys" I meant all of the gay people out there who get offended by people saying "that's so gay" and so they decide to make moronic commercials about it, rather than actually doing anything about it. I also meant "you guys" who dress up like a bunch of weirdos and go to the gay "pride" parades, cementing in everyone's mind that gay people aren't deserving of respect. Your commercials are a joke, and so is your false sense of "pride."
