Well done those men, and well done to the man that has had enough balls to confront an issue such as this. As for you blokes that have other things to say. Its best you pull your head out of your superiour arses and come back down to earth. These blokes are not alone. There are many stories like this that will probably never be told because they are to controvercial or because our lads didn't come back to tell them. Looking forward to the long version, keep up the good work.
Sorry about that, i agree whats the fuss about. Please don't condemn these blokes, i saw first hand with my father and his mates the effect of no support from the government and Australian public in relation to Vietnam war, how long did it take for our government to provide the recognition that was due. To long, lets not make the same mistakes.
as for you respectthewest, i suggest you pull your head out of your sandy, and respect the rest. and yes i wore the sandy for many years and never forgot where i came from. i want everyone to know that not all from the west a as ignorant as you, i had very professional and respectful soldiers under my command you were obviously not one of them. your the sort we tried to prevent passing the cadre cse.
its a shame that some out there wish to discredit one of our own. i have served in both the west as well as east in sf units with infantry background for the best part of 25yrs, and i have only known the bitter and twisted to make allegations of what they wish to call bullshit. Esprit de Corps i guess is buillshit, no i am affraid not, its the bitter and twisted that are bullshit. i am old school and australian that means stick by your mate.
nothing wrong with calling it Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome as that was the term previous to Disorder, as was the term shell shock for the WW11 digs. get a life you critics,
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This really is pathetically amateurish. Repeated footage and sound clips, poor grammar and inconsistency (eg PTSD is an acronym of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - not Syndrome).
As a preview, it would put most people to sleep. Don't quit your day job.
Although it is obvious that this is a very rough cut, utilizing a very wide range of footage and stills, the treatment reminds me of young Charles Jannasch's films. He posts under the name deViceMovingImages, and Jannasch is an innovative Canadian producer.
It is clearly evident that Sasha Uzunov is seeking to obtain a similar substance in his own creations. Is this 5 minute clip a Hollywood blockbuster? Of course not. Is it a 'load of shit'? Again, absolutely not.
It seems that this short clip has touched off a lot of nasty responses! I trust the full version will soon be entered into international film festivals, where actual, trained judges can comment on the quality of the footage/editing.
When you see the full version of the documentary film, the so called allegation of a UD (unauthorised discharge) is addressed and refuted.
There was a UN investigation into the incident, the contact, the firefight, and the soldiers were given a clean bill of health, despite the political pressure to hang them out to dry!
Load of shit! A contact is the best way to cover up a UD! I dont have sympathy for a guy like Pete who was so hurt and emotionally distraught from the 'contact' that he got the date tattoed into his back-im not sure if the people paying his pension are aware of this? Basically I think the are alot better examples of Aussie soldiers out there than him.
Film quality is also shit. no flow, too many repeated pics and what may seem like real video footage is just taken from the back of Holsworthy!
There most definatly are alot of better examples of great aussie soldiers than 'Pete' but after watching this film several times I cannot find the part where he asked for anyones simpathy. It sound to me like you have a few issues yourself mate, which you should deal with before passing judgement on someone elses.
mate, thats a bit harsh... You seem to have no conmpassion for those who have suffered trauma. Not all are on pensions but manage to hold down jobs and raise families.
You seem to have an axe to grind with your comments.
Yeah, on ya mate. Post traumatic (i want a pension syndrome.) This is the shoddiest report I have seen in a long time. Oh, and yes I was there and on the front line. Pure sensationalist reporting.
Australia should have gone to East Timor in the 70's!!
Also I find it funny that most Kopassus officers are trained here in Australia at the RMC!

I liked the clip. Something different, great use of pictures.
I dont know what the fuss is? Its a youtube clip for christ sake! Its there to gather feedback. Great idea.
Syndrome or Disorder... its all the same issue... At last someone has the guts to take a look at this sensitive subject.
I hope the full version gets shown on TV or at a film festival.
keep up the good work.
