Gregg writes a letter to God. He wants answers, as all of us do. But would you write a letter to someone you didn't believe in. Gregg knows in his heart God is there. He is aqngry with God, and doesn't know how to express his anger. I love this song, because I have problems with Gods creation. But the fact remains...God didn't make the earth this way. We did.
@Dr34dmoc Am I right in assuming you haven't listened to very much Bad Religion? God Song and Markovian process come to mind as songs you should check out, read the lyrics and understand some of the arguments. eg Why did god let humans live for 200,000 years without revealing himself and condemn 30 billion plus people to a terrible existence? Life is a Markovian process, it didn't just magically appear or get created as the religious argue "life is just too amazing, beautiful" etc
@MassLiberal1 And which point is that exactly? The one where Gregg blames God for a mutated and insufferable mass of vile scum and criminal insanity?
Or when he ponders the notion that things would be better if God came down here and told us what he knows?
BTW, the latter is inconsequential...We have the bible readily available should any of us wish to pick God's brain. Moreso, He did in fact come down and tell us what he knows, we chose not to listen and nailed him to a cross.
You know, there might just not be a God or any kind of overlord form of apparition that humans made up via legends and myths. There might be too. I won't try to antagonize your faith, but the reason why people are the way they are is because people believe that religion is a justification for their wrongdoings. People like Osama Bin Laden believe that they are prophets and their actions are the word of God. You can believe what you want, but don't bomb us for being infidels.
@ertrick36 Don't get me wrong, I was not bombing you as infidels. Christians and Muslims alike are equally guilty. My point was that we cannot and should not blame our shortcomings on the existance or non existance of a God. Any God. He created us, yes, but that does not mean it is His fault we choose ignorance.

@badreligion1231 That is a possibilty, but I think Gregg might be a little more intellectual than you give him credit for.

You speak as if a god exists, therefore your point of view is void.

@Dr34dmoc I would write a letter to someone I didn't believe in to make a larger point, like this song did. Apparently you missed it.
