They are very versatile and do metal ok for versatile pickups that can also do pink floyd clean. However there are othe BKPs (ceramic) that are more matching metal requirements.
The Epi SG is a horrible sounding bucket of shit, without the bucket. Sticking great pickups in an awesome guitar can actually make it sound worse, because it's really going to bring out the bad qualities of the instrument itself. However, if you're actually using an Epi SG, you probably don't have a trained enough ear to really pick that kind of thing out. Either way, get the Miracle Man set. I have those and the VHIIs, and, while the VHIIs can do metal, the MM set is absolutely killer for it.
I have one.. and it should, but the PRS is not as thick in the body, so you might want to add some extra padding underneath. I'm not sure about the scale length though, I'm pretty sure the LP is a shorter scale length than most, so check into it first.
I have two guitars with BKPs and both sets are significantly better than any other pickups I've ever used. Never heard VHIIs but they are a popular favorite and I'm sure they sound pretty good.
Do you think those VHIIs would handle metal, as well?

Which BKPs would you recommend that could handle metal, but also be versatile enough to cover rock/clean sounds in an Epi SG?

Is that the Shiva's OD channel? It seems to have a lot more gain than usual. Is it your pups or you have a comp on?
infragreen 4 years ago
It's the RC booster that acts like a mid/treble booster and pushes the Shiva into a more fluid drive with higher sustain

It sounds awesome, great playing dude!
I have a Shiva, and dangit, no I have to get one of those. I've had my eye on the BB pre-amp too.

Nice, I have an RC with a Shiva as well. Do you run the gain all the way up on the RC?
