I choked up at the end when he gave his final line. I literally thought back to see if I had pissed on the gift they gave me or used it to its fullest.
Given how this country has turned out, I fear that Mr. Adams must be repenting in Heaven right now. We need to fix this country, WE THE PEOPLE. Ron Paul 2012 bring the ideas of the Founding Fathers back to this country!
Should I draw you a picture of my gratitude? You men (and women) who stood up, spoke out and gave so much for the nation I can (luckily) call home. You weren't rich, dead, white men who owned slaves and chafed under getting told what to do by a king. You constructed a homeland of freedom for people of all nations, creeds and faiths who despite their differences wanted autonomy over their own lives. For that you sacrificed much of yours. Nov. 2nd, I'll do what I can to thank you.
@PINTO911: "We did let these men down". No we didn't. Hundreds of millions of Americans are right now living lives our forefathers and ancesters would be proud of. Americans work harder and provide for our children better than anyone in the world. We should be collectively proud of each other. Our national shame is the idiots we choose to send to Washington.
@PhilipineMan I know what you mean. It's really sad how we've let the great experiment in self government grind down.
But I suppose one could argue that we *did* make good use of our freedom. The people who founded our country proved it could work, that you don't need a tyrant.
I guess we just need to hit the reset button and rediscover freedom.
I , for myself-envy Mr. Adams in heaven, given the state of our country. Bush & Clinton have made a mockery of what they started. Do you think any of the founding fathers would approve of these 2 clowns actions while in office?
@Devsfan202 Absolutely not. And I think Obama's going to help finish the crap that Clinton and Bush started. Also, if people don't stand up for themselves(the leaders seem to be weak) then we'll probably look a lot like the Soviet Union or the Weimar Republic by 2076.
Not many of us in the last 50 years in comparison to the total population. To many are more concerned about the winner of the Super Bowl, American Idol, Survivor...than worrying about our freedoms lost. They are quite willing to stay on their knees and be slaves waiting for the table scraps to fall from the Federal Government. For many, it's easier that way; they don't have to try & exert themselves. Freedom is not free. The American couch potato refuses to pay attention to the upcoming storm.
@Mrcharliebobo Absolutely. But isn't John Adams a television show? We need a Neo! Where have all the Cary Grants and Harrison Fords gone?! Orson Wells, please help us! ...wait, wrong actor. He'll just put the country in pandemonium by getting on the radio and scaring the shit out of everyone. Maybe Leslie Nielsen? Leonardo DiCaprio? I know! Mel Gibson!!!

The scenes that brought tears to my eyes was when Abigail, Jefferson and John died.

9/11 happened and we gave up those freedoms.
We failed them.
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.-Benjamin Franklin

@patriotadEEUU We gave up those freedoms because America grew to be slackers.

No-I shudder to think where this country will be in the year 2076-the Tricentennial of their struggle. Luckily-I will be dead myself then!
