theblasto if you are a hell bound atheist, you at least deserve the truth. I wouldn't be against every single pastor with a salary from his congregation, but any man in his 30s or 40s making money full time from "preaching" and selling crap books and the rest is just a fraud, plain and simple.
I'm not disagreeing with you at all. We paid a salary to the pastor at the church I grew up in. He was paid well enough to keep his family fed, clothed, etc. When larger family needs arose, the church would make a special collection (broken roof, medical emergency, etc.) It was a good system and kept everyone honest.
And from what I learned in church, I'm not "hell-bound." I'm saved and even baptized, which there is no return policy on.

Obama felt comfortable at Trinity United because it wasn't a "typical" Christian church with a "typical" Christian pastor. Instead it was a "Haven for Hate" where Obama could pretend to be a Christian while not having to be held to Christian principles and beliefs.

I suspect that this quote is out of context and is mis-representing the pastor. He seems to be saying that God will punnish the USA for any acts of unwarranted violence. But I think he is for the Iraq War and excuses mot of the deaths. I suspect he thinks America will be punished for not being "christian" in the way that he defines.

Everyone can talk to God even you. Because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he's not there. They do preach for free but they have to pay for the building you meet in, the a/c it provides, the electricity it provides. They get paid based on what is left after all the overhead. Your paying for a president and his beliefs why not pay for someone who believes in God and hopefully up lifts you and gives you words of encouragement on how to live your life?

theblasto if you are a hell bound atheist, you at least deserve the truth. I wouldn't be against every single pastor with a salary from his congregation, but any man in his 30s or 40s making money full time from "preaching" and selling crap books and the rest is just a fraud, plain and simple.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. We paid a salary to the pastor at the church I grew up in. He was paid well enough to keep his family fed, clothed, etc. When larger family needs arose, the church would make a special collection (broken roof, medical emergency, etc.) It was a good system and kept everyone honest.
And from what I learned in church, I'm not "hell-bound." I'm saved and even baptized, which there is no return policy on.
Anyone who actually read the Bible knows it.
