Wonderful people there on the phone, when they start calling you names like paganistic pig, they erase the idea you are a person...from that moment on it is easy to kill someone in the name of your gods because you look at non believers as non people.
I have one question. If ALL of these callers are Christian why are they watching or listening to Athiests? If there are so sure of their beliefs why bother with them?
I think it's interesting that they keep mentioning the "one book." Isn't it a compilation of many, many writings for which there are many, many different copies? i guess the mistake was compiling it. It's too easy to dispute that. What would atheists say if all the different books were spread around and found all over the place? It kinda shoots their argument down I think. Maybe I'm wrong though. Perhaps they need a stronger argument.
It is amazing how many people are so brainwashed. I am sad for them. I have never met a christian who wasn't a two faced, hypocrite. My mother, a minister, included. She speaks of blowing up the muslims. I say " Mom, there's innocent women and children there" she says
" who cares, they deserve it" They pull that stubborn veil over their eyes like a child who says " I can't hear you, blah blah blah.. It breaks my heart to think how richer their lives would be not living in a lie. Oh well. Love.
The buyeee-bull is all the evidence the caller needs---because it's the buyeee-bull. If we atheists don't see the logic in that well I guess we're just and bunch of Harry Potter spewin pajin garbage.
why the fuck do they call, if they are gonna behave like total assholes? they are just making religion look bad, all of them just rage and make threats, so all religious assholes are this agressive? thats the only impression I get after watching 100 assholes doing the same thing.
The buddha never was, nor claimed to be a god. He was a man. And the buddhists generally do not believe in worship of a separate "god". So buddhism really should not be included under the umbrella of unprovable religion. There may be some buddhists who have just replaced god with buddha when they were looking for a new path, but they don't understand the real meaning of buddhism - which, in my opinion, is not all that dissimilar from atheism.
Why do they call if they don't want to listen? It's like trying to argue with a 3-year old. When they don't get their way they start whining and threatening!
AAARRRGGGGG!!!! ARE THESE PEOPLE FUCKING STUPIDD!!!!!FUUUUAARRRKKK!!!! I would not say that the bible is only one account of Jesus. There are multiple gospels, four of them actually collected in the bible and there are yet more. I do not know about the historical accuracy of these gospels we have found, but neither does anyone else, and outright denying them makes you just as bad as your callers. I'm not a Christian, there is no evidence that sways me to that ideology. That does however not mean that there is no evidence at all.
@MisterMantastic "I would not say that the bible is only one account of Jesus" really? Where else then? Josephus? He's almost 100 years after Jesus
"but neither does anyone else, and outright denying them makes you just as bad as your callers" It's up to the who say something existed to present evidence. Van Daniken wrote "Chariots of the Gods". Think he needs to be taken seriously? What about the Vedic then?
"I'm not a Christian" but as it's in a book, you believe in fairies
@sol3a1 I didn't notice your response earlier so I'll respond now.
It is up to someone who makes a claim to prevent the evidence yes. Like I said there are multiple documents written regarding Jesus. I don't know of all of them, I can only recall one by Thomas, and vaguely recall something about roman texts mentioning Christus. I do not claim to know the validity of these. The people in the video however deny their existence. That is a huge oversight.
@MisterMantastic Nobody who wrote about Jesus ever met him. There's never been any substantial proof of his existence. What we do know is that there were historians and scribes at the time who were cataloging historical events, none of which mention him or anything he ever did. Gospels are the only record of his existence, and any other affirmations of that existence came after the letters Paul wrote, which were a decade after he was supposedly alive.
@Bamont Which is why their usefulness should be doubted, but not outright denied. Let's take Tacitus for example. His mentioning could very well be based on records now lost to us. You simply can not know whether they contain valid information or not. None of us can be certain. I have been saying this from the very beginning. You people are trying to make points I already made myself.
@Bamont No. What I would agree with is that things are not true when there is direct contradicting evidence. Until then they are more often than not implausible. NOT impossible.
@MisterMantastic I got into this discussion late and didn't see your previous posts. So, if I'm bringing up ones other users have stated then I apologize. However, we do not consider something to be true unless we can prove that it exists. Sure, it's entirely possible that a guy named Jesus about 2,000 years existed. There's no relevant or rational reason to think it's at all true.
@Bamont You should read all the other things I posted. I also don't believe something is true until it is proven to exist. At the same time I don't believe things to be impossible until there is contradicting evidence.
@sol3a1 Are you not paying attention to any of the things I said or are you just daft? I'm not making a claim to the existence of Jesus here. I'm merely stating the fact that there is multiple sources that allude to, but not actually prove he existed. No one can actually prove these sources are completely true, nor false. Google "historicity of jesus" and you will find there are multiple sources of dubious truth outside the bible. But they are still only dubious, not disproved.
@MisterMantastic "Are you not paying attention to any of the things I said or are you just daft?" I read everything you said, which is nothing. You're trying to hedge your bets by leaving the door open for something to exist without bringing the evidence for it
"I'm not making a claim to the existence of Jesus here. I'm merely stating the fact that there is multiple sources that allude to, but not actually prove he existed" ah, no evidence for Jesus then
@sol3a1 Uncertain evidence still counts as evidence. You have now claimed that these sources are in fact non-existent or false. This is now YOUR claim. Where is your proof?
@MisterMantastic "Uncertain evidence still counts as evidence" not even close. "Uncertain" means nobody has any idea if it is even relevant
"You have now claimed that these sources are in fact non-existent or false" not even close. Again, you are a liar about being a non-christian. No? Then deny the Holy Spirit
"This is now YOUR claim" not my claim. You have not provided any evidence for these alleged papers. No evidence and "It could be Thomas" has nothing behind it
@MisterMantastic "Google "historicity of jesus" and you will find there are multiple sources of dubious truth outside the bible" aka there's no evidence and no "truth" at all
"But they are still only dubious, not disproved" can't prove a negative. It is not for those who think it's bunk to show it's crap but for those thinking it is real to give the evidence
Otherwise any crack pot can come up with a "pseudo-theory" (as opposed to a science Theory) and say "prove me wrong"
@sol3a1 I have claimed all this time that the existence of Jesus is implausible, but not impossible. I have given evidence of that by directing you to what evidence there is and how flaky it is. You have claimed his existence to be impossible. You my friend are the one who has not shown any evidence for your claim.
You can in fact prove a negative. It is by completely contradicting any evidence of its existence. We have been able to disprove he flatness of the earth for instance. (continued)
@MisterMantastic "You have claimed his existence to be impossible. You my friend are the one who has not shown any evidence for your claim" bullshit. Show me where I stated Jesus was impossible
I have no claim on Jesus being real any more than Santa, Loch Ness or Fairies. It is up to those who say any of those guys are real to show their evidence. I can't prove a negative, that's not ow it's done
"You can in fact prove a negative" okay prove Santa doesn't exist
@sol3a1 I have claimed all this time that the existence of Jesus is implausible, but not impossible. I have given evidence of that by directing you to what evidence there is and how flaky it is. You have claimed his existence to be impossible. You my friend are the one who has not shown any evidence for your claim.
You can in fact prove a negative. It is by completely contradicting any evidence of its existence. We have been able to disprove he flatness of the earth for instance. (continued)
@sol3a1 (continued) The improbability of Jesus is not just a pseudo theory. It is a fact. There is evidence, but it is dubious, yet also not impossible to be disproved fully. That is exactly what implausible is. Unlikely, but not completely proven untrue. Until you can give actual proof, the claim of Jesus impossibility is just as bad as Christians claiming he did in fact exist.
@MisterMantastic "There is evidence, but it is dubious, yet also not impossible to be disproved fully" ah, bait and switch. Earth being flat, something we can all see by going high enough in a plane is far different than someone that some people believed existed
We can see the Earth, nobody living today has seen Jesus. Try again and use real arguments, not strawmen
"Unlikely, but not completely proven untrue" then all these things could be true: Vishnu, Nessie, Thor, Fairies
@MisterMantastic "Until you can give actual proof, the claim of Jesus impossibility is just as bad as Christians claiming he did in fact exist" Good thing I never stated Jesus didn't exist then huh?
"Until you do so you are either daft, or a troll" that'll be you. See trolls claim the other person said something they didn't and demands them to answer their line of bullshit
So me where I said Jesus didn't exist. I can't do that, nobody can prove a negative
@sol3a1 You are trying to argue against my claim of his improbability, as well as saying the evidence that he is improbably is false. If you are not trying to claim his existence is impossible you are arguing for the sake of arguing and thus pretty much a troll by definition. Good bye sir, this is the last comment you'll get from me and far more than you deserve.
@MisterMantastic "You are trying to argue against my claim of his improbability, as well as saying the evidence that he is improbably is false" I see you've given up on actually trying to show where I claim things don't exist. I guess that is your sig of being a troll
"you are arguing for the sake of arguing and thus pretty much a troll by definition" that's rich. I ask you for evidence you gave none
"Good bye sir" You didn't even have the decency to take back your lie on me
@MisterMantastic: As to your farcical linkage of "disproving a flat Earth and how its the same as being able to disprove Jesus" I'd like to know how
That's a poor argument and fails. One we see, other we're not even sure existed. Your claim that properties of a real object is the same as saying we can disprove when there's no evidence it existed is false
Earth's real, we see it, note it's properties. There's no evidence Jesus was real so we can't say what his properties were
@MisterMantastic - Have you read those four books? Do you see how many contridictions are in those four books about Jesus? Why is it that there are no people who passed down such incredible claims of over 500 people aside from 4 guys who wrote different books about it and obviously no one ever heard them talk about it because we haven't heard of it since. Where is the evidence of Jesus's miracles'? (basic questions that a theist can't answer)
@Thenewfallingsacred First of all there are not only 4 gospels. There are merely four in the bible. And like I said, I do not claim to know their validity, nor should you unless you have actually studied the ancient texts. On top of that, we do not know exactly how much information was lost. Most historians agree that early Christians were prosecuted. It is not at all unbelievable that many texts were destroyed or hidden because of this. Even without them there are still multiple sources though
@MisterMantastic I admit that I don't know but I also know that no one else really knows who wrote what if they weren't there. My only statement is that "Even if there are more accounts; who is to say that it wasn't the first ever fictional book spread throughout many places and people?" (by the way the word is persecuted not prosecuted)
@Thenewfallingsacred I don't know if it is. You don't know if it is. They don't know if it is either. I think we're both trying to make the same point just looking at it from different angles. We have no idea idea if there are any trustworthy accounts. We do however know that there are accounts, fabricated or not. The guys in the video completely neglect that fact. They are the ones pretending to know, just like their callers pretend to know. That is just silly.
@MisterMantastic - Okay I think we are trying to make the same point, so it seems. I agree that it isn't good to debate without having done research although I'm guilty of it myself obviously. I do it so people can prove me wrong so that I can go learn the right answer. (sad way of learning but true)
@weeryan2008 I hope, for your sake, this is meant to be a joke. Spend 10 minutes in the study of logic and a square is actually the visual representation of both basic Aristotelian and Boolean logic. Aristotle being the founder of the logical discipline, the science of argumentation, it would appear that square logic explains quite a bit.
These videos are so fascinating, it's like there is a mental block in the callers head that prevents them from even comprehending what the atheist guys are saying. Im not even saying the caller is dumb, it's like their brain is so wired to rigidly hold on to their worldview that it shuts off any possibility of them even grasping something outside of it. Really amazing video.
@TheXrobwx First off, the book needs to be written as, at it's core, an unbiased telling of events as they happened, and second, there can't just be ONE book. There should be multiple books, written by multiple people, who all corroborate the same series of events. Ben Franklin, for example, was written about many times by many different witnesses, all of whom, gave the same account of the events in question. The Bible doesn't have ANY of that.
the bible can not defend itself. the bible IS the religion - of course it will say it there, it was orchestrated by HUMANS to assert itself is true. you can not prove the religion WITH the religion
He had a point about people not writing things down back in the day, but if you found God on earth, wouldn't you make a record of it somehow? A painting, etching, writing of some kind? Even illiterate masses would find some way of recording that kind of historic event. Of course the whole persecution thing may complicate it a bit, but the record we have is quite lame. Also the bible isn't "a" book. It's a compilation of writings. So you could have more than 1 account of Jesus in the bible.
Cesar hasn't done any miracle but there is a lot of scripture on him... Same goes for Plato or Pythagoras. And why Valerius Maximus historian born around the same period as Jesus is supposed to never heard of Jesus ?
@Nickster63 Because many of these redneck pigs(i'm not insinuating that all rednecks are stupid yokel pigs btw) are uneducated yokels who are too scared to question it and have been brainwashed so badly that when faced with facts they scream HEATHEN!! HEATHEN!!! YOU GONNA BURN!!
"It gives me comfort to know that people in the US are slowly but, surely turning their backs on religion. Religion has created more wars, killed more people, cost more money, and wasted more time than any other practice on the planet. And that is a fact."
I'm just so fucking baffled that people like this exist, that the majority of the world has the same mentality of this moron. It's the year 2012 and human advancement and unity is still being held back by stupid shit like this.
There are many of Jesus disciples recorded his teaching. Everyone knows this. And there are at least 5 or 6 versions of it. The Roman Empire only allowed use of couple versions for their own power hunger to control people. Religious leaders sided with the political power. Only naive people got manipulated. History TV channel has some good series on the mystery of the Bible.
Religious people are so redicilous in backing up their lil fairytale that it almost becomes hilarious to listen to. Hey let's make a book that we sell around the world, the book will have 1 page with 1 sentence saying 'god is not real' will they shut up then?
Goddaamn. If you listen to these religious dupes they sound so braindead as to seem actually retarted in the real sense. Or delusional at best. They all sound ten times dumber than any of the athiests.
I don't know what kind of faith I despise more, this redneck "hurr dis in the bibel durr" or the slightly more secular, ridiculously contradictive "I'm spiritual, not religious" self-deception. Both are as wrong and annoying but in different ways.
you scoundrels! ben franklin NEVER existed and i can prove that! i never got a kite to fly that had a key attatched to it! so there, that story is false so all your precious book are false, too!
i dont believe in books, anyway.... i only believe what the awesome atheismo told me during those bad trips that i had last week!
@wimpylassiter2336 it does refer to the old testament alot in the second sura, and sometimes mentions the christians. but it is still different in some way. it's stil a 'magic book' though. and it doesn't take as long to read as the bible. kinda like a pixie bible perhaps.
@AtheistScientific Oh ok, I am familiar with the bible, but not the koran. I just based my last comment on something from a Christopher Hitchens book. i was, in essence, talking out of my ass.
Talking to religious fanatics is like banging your head against a concrete wall. I love when they get mad about it too. It drives them NUTS when they argue and have nothing!
its infuriating, the circular logic,...."the bible is true because the bible says it it is, and the bible cannot lie, because it is the bible and the bible cannot be false, because...."
I wonder how the hell can these guys keep their temper while consecutevily responding to the very same questions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again... I would go nuts and I'd start cursing lol and I'd yell them "GO WATCH THE OTHER 100 EPISODES WHERE I ANSWERED THAT SHITTY QUESTION. AND GO READ OTHER BOOKS"
No wonder slavery lasted so long....people like this idiot believed what the bible says and it suggests methods of caring for your slave, not that it's immoral!
Why does everyone they talk to say that the bible is evidence. It is not evidence!!!!!!! It is not a reliable source of information. They always say that it is fact and that it is the literal word of god which is BS. It was written by humans, not god!! It is simply a collection of writings which are people's interpretations of events. Because people of that time did not understand the universe like we do today, the result is the bible as an attempt to explain the unkown
I don't understand how they can remain so calm when the stupidity and plain lack of skepticism is so overwhelming. I would get pissed off reeeaaally fast.
Christians always get angry when they are cornered! The only difference is that they cannot do nothing for it nowdays! In other ages they would just pull out the blade!
I fell for the christian lie for about a year now. I actually dropped out of school and have been depressed and having anger and extreme rage. They say our body has a wisdom of its own and ever since I became christian I have been miserable and in a prison! FUCK RELIGION!!
Actually, the text concerning Jesus after his supposed crucifixion does NOT support Christian's point of view. Aside from no witness to his alleged crucifixion to when he met and scared the bejesus (no pun intended) out of the disciples where they were hiding.
hahahahahahahaaahahhhaaaaaahaaaahaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!
...
wait, i havent finished holding my sides with laughter!!
haaahahahahahahaaaahaaahahahahahaaaa!!!!
...
religion is the ridiculous storytellings of demented people - nothing more. wake up world! youll thank me in the morning.

(continued)
MisterMantastic 2 weeks ago
@sol3a1 (continued) The improbability of Jesus is not just a pseudo theory. It is a fact. There is evidence, but it is dubious, yet also not impossible to be disproved fully. That is exactly what implausible is. Unlikely, but not completely proven untrue. Until you can give actual proof, the claim of Jesus impossibility is just as bad as Christians claiming he did in fact exist.
Until you do so you are either daft, or a troll.

"Unlikely, but not completely proven untrue" then all these things could be true: Vishnu, Nessie, Thor, Fairies
sol3a1 2 weeks ago
@MisterMantastic "Until you can give actual proof, the claim of Jesus impossibility is just as bad as Christians claiming he did in fact exist" Good thing I never stated Jesus didn't exist then huh?
"Until you do so you are either daft, or a troll" that'll be you. See trolls claim the other person said something they didn't and demands them to answer their line of bullshit
So me where I said Jesus didn't exist. I can't do that, nobody can prove a negative
sol3a1 2 weeks ago
@sol3a1 You are trying to argue against my claim of his improbability, as well as saying the evidence that he is improbably is false. If you are not trying to claim his existence is impossible you are arguing for the sake of arguing and thus pretty much a troll by definition. Good bye sir, this is the last comment you'll get from me and far more than you deserve.
MisterMantastic 2 weeks ago
@MisterMantastic "You are trying to argue against my claim of his improbability, as well as saying the evidence that he is improbably is false" I see you've given up on actually trying to show where I claim things don't exist. I guess that is your sig of being a troll
"you are arguing for the sake of arguing and thus pretty much a troll by definition" that's rich. I ask you for evidence you gave none
"Good bye sir" You didn't even have the decency to take back your lie on me
sol3a1 2 weeks ago
@MisterMantastic: As to your farcical linkage of "disproving a flat Earth and how its the same as being able to disprove Jesus" I'd like to know how
That's a poor argument and fails. One we see, other we're not even sure existed. Your claim that properties of a real object is the same as saying we can disprove when there's no evidence it existed is false
Earth's real, we see it, note it's properties. There's no evidence Jesus was real so we can't say what his properties were
sol3a1 2 weeks ago
@MisterMantastic - Have you read those four books? Do you see how many contridictions are in those four books about Jesus? Why is it that there are no people who passed down such incredible claims of over 500 people aside from 4 guys who wrote different books about it and obviously no one ever heard them talk about it because we haven't heard of it since. Where is the evidence of Jesus's miracles'? (basic questions that a theist can't answer)
Thenewfallingsacred 2 weeks ago
@Thenewfallingsacred First of all there are not only 4 gospels. There are merely four in the bible. And like I said, I do not claim to know their validity, nor should you unless you have actually studied the ancient texts. On top of that, we do not know exactly how much information was lost. Most historians agree that early Christians were prosecuted. It is not at all unbelievable that many texts were destroyed or hidden because of this. Even without them there are still multiple sources though
MisterMantastic 2 weeks ago
@MisterMantastic I admit that I don't know but I also know that no one else really knows who wrote what if they weren't there. My only statement is that "Even if there are more accounts; who is to say that it wasn't the first ever fictional book spread throughout many places and people?" (by the way the word is persecuted not prosecuted)
Thenewfallingsacred 2 weeks ago
@Thenewfallingsacred I don't know if it is. You don't know if it is. They don't know if it is either. I think we're both trying to make the same point just looking at it from different angles. We have no idea idea if there are any trustworthy accounts. We do however know that there are accounts, fabricated or not. The guys in the video completely neglect that fact. They are the ones pretending to know, just like their callers pretend to know. That is just silly.
MisterMantastic 2 weeks ago
@MisterMantastic - Okay I think we are trying to make the same point, so it seems. I agree that it isn't good to debate without having done research although I'm guilty of it myself obviously. I do it so people can prove me wrong so that I can go learn the right answer. (sad way of learning but true)

weeryan2008 1 week ago
@weeryan2008 I hope, for your sake, this is meant to be a joke. Spend 10 minutes in the study of logic and a square is actually the visual representation of both basic Aristotelian and Boolean logic. Aristotle being the founder of the logical discipline, the science of argumentation, it would appear that square logic explains quite a bit.

Really amazing video.

What is the yardstick that is accepted of a written books validity from history?
TheXrobwx 3 weeks ago
@TheXrobwx First off, the book needs to be written as, at it's core, an unbiased telling of events as they happened, and second, there can't just be ONE book. There should be multiple books, written by multiple people, who all corroborate the same series of events. Ben Franklin, for example, was written about many times by many different witnesses, all of whom, gave the same account of the events in question. The Bible doesn't have ANY of that.

There are many of Jesus disciples recorded his teaching. Everyone knows this. And there are at least 5 or 6 versions of it. History TV channel has some good series on the mystery of the Bible.

They always say that it is fact and that it is the literal word of god which is BS. It was written by humans, not god!! It is simply a collection of writings which are people's interpretations of events. Because people of that time did not understand the universe like we do today, the result is the bible as an attempt to explain the unkown
