It's actually a will-o'-the-wisp in a bottle sort of thing. Kahlan uses it in the first book to guide her across the boundary when she sets off to find Zedd. :)

i disagree the tvshow is good ... u can not do everything as it is in the books or else the show would be boring.. The book will always be better because when using words ur mind makes its own image of how things should be....

@GURLGURLGOONIE I agree. In an interview with Bridget Regan who plays Khalan she was asked about how much the tv show would be like the books. She said something about how the books seem more personal whereas the the tv show is more shared ideas.

Ok... dear christ. Kahlan is the Mother Confessor. The last confessor. Richard is a level headed woods guide who memorized the book of shadows. No one knows that he knows it until the end of book one except darken rahl. Zedd was Richards best friend and teacher. The Seeker of Truth... ughh when a confessor dies so do the confessed... this is so far from Goodkinds books its not even funny. Whoever wrote the TV series must be shot and killed. Stop watching- go read it. Go die if you like this shit

this show is ridiculously wrong. mother confessors wear white. kahlan is the youngest ever mother confessor. - she is the only one left- rahl killed them all. there is no point taking anything from this series. read the books, watch the show for kicks- it's good.... ish.

In the Books she is the Mother Confessor since the beginning but in the series she becomes it at the of episode ten of the first season 1.
