At the end you know the two black people...well did those 2 sacrifice the children (so they're in the childrens bodies) and the children now possessed grow up and become the old hag....then the old lady posessed the young lady and the old man possess the young lawyer thing....so now the black people are now in the young peoples bodies at the end and the young lady is in the old ladys body and the old man was the young man???

at the end old lady (who is rly black maid) got caroline after making her believe (she also says ppl dont believe as much nowadays like they used to, im guessin when they possessed past ppl...) and said she wanted a black one this time!.. lol.

So in reality the black couple that was hung was the children...

They had allready done the transformation, the ritual to exchange bodies. The black people needed someone to believe and the children had obviously no problems believing. So when alle the people at party hung the black ones, they, without knowing, hung their own children. This is the genial plot of the whole movie that I figured out after the movie ended.

Why do people find this film hard to understand? lol It's pretty straightforward. Admittedly complicated as ghost stories go, but that's all the better. I guess it's one you need to watch without interruption. No toilet or coffee breaks. I think it's so overlooked it isn't fair. No-one has ever heard of it when you mention it. When you say 'Skeleton Key' they assume it's some low budget B-pic. It's brilliantly written and has John Hurt in it FFS!

It would be interesting to have seen a film about what happened after the lynching when Thorpe was raising who he thought were his two kids.......right up to when Thorpe shot his wife to death and then himself as Ms. Deveraux was explaining to Caroline in the film.
