Let's be honest, if there was even a 0.000000000001% chance of this being true do you think we would all still be allowed to flout the announcements? You have to believe for every 200 seat airplane there are at least 5 phones on the entire time.
And FYI, the biggest 'real' danger could be phone left on in hold baggage which could interfere with the cargo hold smoke alarm wireless system and trigger a false alert to the cockpit of a cargo fiire.
as a FA...............this is a challenge dat we have to go thru day in day....got myself suspended twice coz of some stupid Pax complaint dat i demanded him to switched off his phone...
If a cellphone is as disruptive as it is portrayed to be, could it not be a potential weapon for terriorists? Find where crucial sensors are located in the passenger area, and switch on 2 or three mobiles that s/he is carrying on them! Boom, down comes the plane!
This reports failed to convince me. Either this report is accurate, or we have a HUGE gaping gap in international aviation security.
Bu*lsh*t. That makes sense by the end of this "report"... they develop this wireless network so they can charge fortunes to the passengers and what better excuse to come up with so they can sell it? Security.
And where they announce it? ABC one of the Brainwashers of the monetary system.
I've never flew in a Boeing. I only flew so far in Airbus and I took of and land in the cook-pit while making phone calls, sending sms, e-mailing, ... guess what? Nothing happen.
@SylvesteR1285 and how do you know something didn't happen? Like he said it may show realistic issues, for example when landing the ILS may say you are to the right or left and you could physically be on center! Are you a pilot?
It's called better safe than sorry. It should be common sense. Is it that fucking hard to turn off your phone for a few hours? If so, you've got some serious issues and should probably seek therapy.
Isn't it comforting to know that there are our fellow Americans who prize their cell phones, their IPads, their tweetering etc. more than our lives. Thank you, Alec Baldwin, Senator Schumer and other idiots who love to flaunt safety rules. Even if there is doubt, is it worth the risk? Not with my life!!!
