Interesting and informative. Now I know the origin of my peanut butter after all these years! I hope it's not the middle man who creams all the profit. Greetings from the north of NZ.
@dutch621 Isn't that the way it is with all farm produce? I sell fruits and vegetables from my small farm and people complain about the prices when all I am doing is swapping dollars.
The reason for doing this is because peanuts grow in the ground. So we dig them and invert them at the same time so that the peanuts are dried by the sun. The moisture of the peanuts need to be around 13% moisture when harvested. Which could take between 3 to 5 days when the skies are clear and the temp is high. Atleast that's how we do it in Georgia, it may differ a little in Texas.

Extremely small vine size! The vine cutters could be taken off. (to save on wear)

In that part of the field yes, the vines were small. Other parts we sure needed them on!!
Not gone take them off just for a little part.

How long does it take peanuts to grow and what is the cost per acre of growing them?
peipotatoguy 2 years ago
It takes too much money to grow them and they don't pay enough.
They need anywhere from 120 to 150 days from planting to harvest.
