How to install RAM on a Laptop

well i had to return the ram because it was not the right kind the first time so i got another one shiped out and this one dose not work so im not that sure whats wrong its a 1 gig stick of ddr2 memory so it should work well i dont know but another question whats some good graphics card for a gameing pc and a good cooling system

hay i need help i have a gateway laptop and when i put the ram in and when i boot my computer its a black screen adn it dosent load up please help
