  • Stevieg the was no in vision by pamela dod was in vision only night time?

  • Another Central Television game show set designed by Mr. Richard Plumb.

  • @21hammadmossop that video 'noise' is caused by the video-head tracking being out of alignment

  • Reading on the internet about granda news it said Hazle Barrett left in 1999 but im in machester and dont remeber her being on in the late 90s. so when did she leave?

  • I'm not sure when she left, I have recently uploaded a clip of the end credits to Granada Tonight from mid 1998 and she is co presenting, so she was still there in 1998. I guess 1999 sounds about right, by the end of 1998 all the Granada News bulletins were from Manchester permanently.

  • reminds me of having the day off from school ha ha, as few and far between as they were. i'd have been 13 at the time.

  • OMG I have not seen this for absolutely years thanks for this anyway

  • Much more professionally presented than Yorkshire TVs continuity, which, for much of it's existence was basically crap, it's only in the last few years that YTV has caught up with slickness and professionalism.

  • YES!

That was the best theme for Granada Reports, so simple, loved it, thanks for uploading, so many memories

  • do you think Supermarket Sweep was came form USA?

  • He said Those are the Headlines too soon after just 5 seconds

  • i have to say sorry about the top of this video.

  • It is unusual for news programmes to go out in stereo! Did you get NICAM on terrestrial and various satellite channels thru NYNEX Cablecomms tv network?

  • I can't say for NYNEX, but we definately got Nicam Stereo from terrestrial, the Winter Hill transmitter (ie where this picture was recorded from) was one of the first to get Nicam. Indeed as you say it's strange for the News to be in Stereo. They kept the same 'NICAM STEREO' tag on their idents for a couple of years or so after this...

  • I think NYNEX did carry the terrestrials in NICAM and MTV/Sky Movies/The Movie Channel and CMT Europe in NICAM;you needed a NICAM Stereo VCR or TV or both to receive them that way(NYNEX would receive the four channels I mention in PANDA1 stereo from satellite on the 7.02/7.20Mhz stereo tv sound carriers and encode them in NICAM for subscribers, they also carried MTV/Sky Movies and The Movie Channel in stereo via FM frequencies and for that you needed a FM tuner connected to the network or hifi.

  • Actually London & Yorkshire regions were the VERY first to get NICAM stereo and it expanded gradually region by region;Granada got it early 90's.

  • Apparently at the time there was a tendancy for Granada and other regions that have NICAM Stereo to broadcast most live studio based and outdoor broadcast programmes in stereo and film and edit homegrown programmes in stereo and buy-in/show stereo versions of imported US etc programmes to show off the capabilities of the system.

  • And from Time the Place, ITV went tabloid with Trisha and that Kyle person

  • I wonder if that edition of The Time The Place came from the CTV studios on La POU-QUE-LAYE!

And the Granada announcer is Pamela Dodd.

  • Makes you wonder whether Channel had the room. Sadly I couldn't tell you as I stopped the recording about ten minutes in.

  • Haha, Dermot. It's funny to see him now after watching the eggheads quite recently.

Also, I laughed out loud at how you cut the news up.

"Hello, I'm Hazel Barrett, and thats all we have time for!"

  • Just abouts sums Hazel Barrett up! You could always count on her to totally screw up a news bulletin. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned that news clip wasn't edited.

  • And she teaches journalism now at John Moore's

  • Perhaps she's a better lecturer than reporter.

  • Thanks for uploading this StevieG. It certainly brings back the memories of the Granada ident back in 1993, plus ITN News opening and closing, and Supermarket Sweep. Nice one mate!

  • hang on!

I thought supermarket sweep was always produced by Carlton television.

how come 1993 was done by central.

  • Central started the show, then Carlton bought Central and by 1999 everything to do with Central was now Carlton. Hope that clears it up.

  • Do you have an animated Golden Crown advert where a pot bellied dragon is invited to burn the kings toast?

  • Hi steviegTVreturns

Thanks for re-uploading Granada TV continuity Friday 29th October 1993.

One question I would like to ask do you have other footage of Granada TV continuity featuring Stars in their eyes from the 1990's like Matthew Kelly's very first show?

  • Nope, I haven't got anything with Stars in their Eyes.
