You walk two steps and you are in yet another battle. This game seems so great. The graphic style, the humor, the characters... But, how did they NOT realize that the encounter rate was so damn high? Annoyingly so. Did they even play the game after it was complete? This game seems to have what it takes to be a great RPG on my list, if it weren't for this huge let-down of encounters. I'd like to explore the land without having to sift through years of enemies to get one small chest.

It's really on par with a few modern games such as Pokemon when you're in a cave, or older classics like the original Final Fantasy I and Breath of Fire I, II, and III.

We need a sequel/remake NOW! The characters are awesome, the plot is intriguing, the environments are gorgeous, and the character portraits are beautiful (Maya Anderson is a great artist).
Although, this game would have been better if there were no bugs, more enemy variety, on-map enemies like in Chrono Trigger, LESS random encounters, faster walking speed on world map, smoother attack/ability animation, more dialogue, and secret bosses.
Kairu x Isa is a heartwarming love relationship, BTW.
Alot of people have dissed this game, I just got it, best 14 bucks I spent. This game and Disgaea are just awsome. Bought them both for less then what i would of paid at launch.

the only part that bugs me a bit is the battlesystem is a compilation of everything annoying lol. limited terrain-movement, gaugefill, complicated actionselection(which makes scarlet petals the best thing ever ingame to me), limited battle-items, really annoying fleeing function, and no way to get out of a dungeon xept walking. but that also makes it very challenging.
I just completed the game this morning with 42 hours playing .. one word : AWESOME ! the funny part is that at the end you discover that the game was made by only 4 peoples xD (and some bunch of nowhere) and theres was 2 testor !! and the best it come from my town =3 Montreal ! I recommend this game to every fan of cronos triggers and final fantasy on snes uguys gonna love it !
yeah, and it shows than it was only made by a handful of people and only had two testers (the numerous glitches, one beneficial, the others being awful freexing ones)

However, the random encounter rate and difficulty cannot be ignored. Literally, this game is VERY, VERY HARD!! In addition, few save points, "surprise" attacks by power enemies, etc.
Overall, if you are looking for a challenging nostalgia-like game, give it a shot. Check the review on Amazon for details.

I wouldn't agree on "unique" but I guess you could say it was a bit different during it's time. I own both games and have played them but to be honest I have to say Black Sigil is a tad bit better. Crono is a mute swordsman while Kairu is a cursed yet level-headed guy. He isn't the typical emo protagonist..like Cloud,Squall,etc. Crono has no personality so I can't say much on his account.

Definitely going to try this even though the graphics seem a bit snessy. There's plenty DS Rpg's out that have higher res sprites than this (Or a combination of sprites with cgi skills)

I hope XIII does well, but Square has lost its way with FF. There have been some great games come out in the past three years, but it has now become saturated with too many.

this game kinda reminds me of chrono trigger (like what everyone else has said) but also golden sun, parly because of the whole ship 3Dish flying part.
Uhmm.....this looks very SNES 16bitish...not that that's a dealbreaker. I'm just more interested in games like Sands of Destruction or Suikoden Tierkries that look more modern graffix wise. If the story is tip top....I will check it out for sure though.
Well, I guess it's good that they are dedicated to making a good product and NOT releasing something that isn't finished(like most greedy game companies) BUT in the end, it better all be worth it.... I'm still going to get this game though. Probably not first day, but I will eventually get it. Chrono Trigger is going to be released for the holidays so I'm happy. I can't wait, and It will have wireless connectivity.
There's several reasons for you to get the DS remake of Chrono Trigger, man! One, the new translation, which is gonna be similar to the original, yet a little bit closer to the original Japanese script. Plus, they're adding some extra dungeons into the mix, as well as including the anime cutscenes from the PlayStation version!
Typically I would berate this game for ripping off Chrono Trigger in so many ways, but since there is no Chrono sequel in sight nor any GBA or DS port of the original, I say why the hell not.
Wow. Graphically, this is a complete carbon copy of Chrono Trigger. Same font, same character sprites, same environment. Hell, even the airship travel looks the same.
And it is for this reason, I cannot wait to get this game!
it's all about getting a classic RPG look. It looks like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana combined. It appeals to people who like those classic RPGs.

I forgot to mention, the music is awesome. There are many memorable tracks in this game. Adding to the list of things that would improve this game:
- a bestiary
- weapon/armor customization (like in Final Fantasy 10)
- a New Game+ mode (we couldn't see the other endings once we got Vai and Doll), plus extras when initiating New Game+.
- Unlockable bonus features once you get a certain ending/all endings.
- A frickin' kiss between Kairu and Isa, dammit, shown via Ms. Anderson's art skills.

I really liked CT, and I really like this game.

Damn!!! Those graphics!!! the music...this game will be the best of all!!! It reminds me of the old good times when i played Chrono or Secret of mana 2 the whole night!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, it feels so good...whoever made this fantastic game...he didn't forget about the real rpg fans!!!!

Nope, just hopeful.
I hope XIII does well, but Square has lost its way with FF. There have been some great games come out in the past three years, but it has now become saturated with too many.
I think Megaman 9 has set a precedent that people want these kinds of games.

The only reason I feel like playing this game is because it's like Chrono Trigger.
For some reason, I get the feeling that this is going to be the next epic version of Chrono Trigger. But of course, Chrono Trigger is better.

Uhmm.....this looks very SNES 16bitish...not that that's a dealbreaker. I'm just more interested in games like Sands of Destruction or Suikoden Tierkries that look more modern graffix wise. If the story is tip top....I will check it out for sure though.

Well, I guess it's good that they are dedicated to making a good product and NOT releasing something that isn't finished(like most greedy game companies) BUT in the end, it better all be worth it.... There's nothing worse than a game that gets pushed back and back, and then they release it and IT STILL sucks ass. That's like holding your poop in, but when you finally poop, it's still just poop.

I'm still going to get this game though. Probably not first day, but I will eventually get it. Chrono Trigger is going to be released for the holidays so I'm happy. I can't wait, and It will have wireless connectivity.

There's several reasons for you to get the DS remake of Chrono Trigger, man! One, the new translation, which is gonna be similar to the original, yet a little bit closer to the original Japanese script. Plus, they're adding some extra dungeons into the mix, as well as including the anime cutscenes from the PlayStation version!

Typically I would berate this game for ripping off Chrono Trigger in so many ways, but since there is no Chrono sequel in sight nor any GBA or DS port of the original, I say why the hell not.

Wow. Graphically, this is a complete carbon copy of Chrono Trigger. Same font, same character sprites, same environment. Hell, even the airship travel looks the same.
And it is for this reason, I cannot wait to get this game!

it's all about getting a classic RPG look. It looks like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana combined. It appeals to people who like those classic RPGs.
