  • @sanosuke004 yeah me to, it's really an amazing asset to classrooms.

  • So can you get the Blue Wall of Death?

  • you people are such douche bags. This is more of a Smart whiteboard replacement than a fucking ipad or iphone competitor.

  • @snip3d05 Microsoft touch devices never work that well, maybe Windows Phone 7 devices are different but before that the touch interface never really worked like you'd expect or as naturally as say on iOS/iPhone.

  • @rubyhax0r Microsoft doesn't make touch devices besides the Zune HD which has a pretty decent touchscreen.

  • @piratesmvp Yes but @rubyhax0r is saying is that their previous software design and operating systems haven't been touch friendly. Touchscreens in general really took off, and I owned the original iphone back in 2007 and it was amazing in terms of it's screen. I've also had a tablet PC (multi touch) since 09, and even then, win OS's couldn't fully utilize it. Win7 has gotten a lot better, and I've used Win8 and it is MUCH better. Remember I'm ONLY talking touch, not about OS's in general.

  • @roberth214 I agree, but the point of tablet pcs wasn't finger or multitouch. It was for utilizing a Wacom or Ntrig screen that could be used for inking.

  • This is nothing new.. our school has touch boards which are called smart boards and can be written on and the writing goes to the computer embedded in the smart board enabling students to download the scribbled notes. :)

  • coool

  • ._. The technology developed in the 2008 can't be compared to the technology of the 2010/2011, it's crazy..!!

  • Comparing with apple touch screens this thing is a fail

  • research and develop a screen you don't have to touch. Good lord this is so freaking gross. different people and everyones finger grease and God knows what else left behind. You'll be cleaning constantly...especially when this is brought into the home like the Corning video shows. Disgusting. Just like you phone with crap from your fingers and face grease all over it. you constantly wipe it on your clothes. or you just "smudge" it clean. ugh

  • Smart Board!!! :D

  • stop hogging down the screen moron !

  • Apple iWall will kill this... Oh wait, this never came out...

  • actually, this was very innovative in 2008. it has multi-touch...

  • @mayxmst iPhone came out in 2007 and had multi-touch too and it was way more fluid than this..

  • Was this before the iPad?

  • @Wolta

    look at the date

  • @Heddernheim069 'cause I don't know when the iPad came out :P

  • @Wolta yes this was before the ipad 3 yrs before

  • we had a thing called a SMARTboard at the intermediate i went to last year in most rooms, it actually works pretty good. you can pick up pen things made for it and you can interact by drawing on word and stuff.

i wonder if this microsoft whiteboard will make it?

  • I wonder how much it would cost?

  • I guess this a better Smartboard? That's what we have at my school.

  • Damn! What if a wife wanted to throw a vase and missed???

Nah, I would rather a projector goddamit.

  • It's not fluid, cuz it's not a mac!

  • this will retake the market, it seems crazy

but so did the mac back in 1990'

  • my school has this lol

  • @TheCRAZYgamers115 lmao,I wish I was at your school when I was younger.

  • @tukanhamen well they have something like it but they need this pen thing lol its pretty cool.

  • I want a wall like that in my house!! :D

  • haha i bet someone is at the back controlling this system cause it looks pretty fail...

  • Why on Earth is Microsoft all about Word Documents, powerpoints bla bla bla....

and i think they should focus more on enhancing GPU animations and editing and stuff...

  • Bill is the man

  • they use this on cnn, must have somethin to do with the fact that Microsoft owns cnn

  • Holy fuck if this is a demonstration of 2 years ago i wonder what it would be like today... *Starts daydreaming*

  • @MrLegendman3 it would be like, i don't know, a smart board?

  • @dielan44 am gwad its IBOARD! :D

  • @lolopit wrong company retard

  • @DEATHTRICKTV no shit u fucking idiot?

  • Its an iwall

  • @thelilhacker It's a MiWall

  • Thats why I love Apple

  • @rrcdrums lmao apple is retarded, microsoft is tha best =]

  • this is probably where M$ got the idea for Kinect.

  • doesnt seem like its doing wat its supppose to b doing..... no offense, but apple's touch surfaces r much more responsive than wat im seeing....

  • well there is the promethean whiteboard

  • Smartboardd work very differently, they Are projections of the desktops an the touch mechanism is an unresponsive mouse.

  • Wow! It's a smartboard!!! It's not like we have one of those in every single classroom at our school.

  • not actually a touch system

    a camera system

  • He should call it the iBoard.

  • APPLE Products are FFFAAARRR better THAN MICROSOFT

  • this is from 2008 people, at the time its amazing

  • roba ideas de apple

  • 1:45 yeh blow it up! it crap rather use a touch imac :P

  • That would be a smart board

  • loove u bill

  • Bill gates is a very smart leader. Respect bill :).

  • Bill gates is gay.

  • @Xkoxchoto oi, it's hiloriaus

  • how is that UI useful?

  • i would laugh if the blue screen popped up... unless it was on me.

  • it loooks really expensive and why wud u want a "touch" wall in ur house if u have a pc?

  • Windows will always suck on 3d effects. Linux is best with effects. And faster and even better without them. And this one sucks :D

  • @Xkoxchoto K, I'll go play Crysis now, it's an awesome 3D game that works pretty good on windows. I guess the Linux version runs a lot better though....oh wait.

  • @0m3n1337 you can run crysis on linux <.< and yes it will be better than the fucking windows even with emulator. Where is the point of ur comment? I was talking about responding software not about retarded games for kids...

  • @Xkoxchoto Ok, if you want to talk about animation graphics we can. From what i've seen Ubuntu has by far the best 3D effects in a desktop experience and it is really well done. In Windows 7's 3D effects aren't as excessive as Ubuntu's but the 3D effects are well done. The reason it works so well is because Direct2D was introduced in Windows 7. Direct 2D basically adds the ability to create desktop applications that are for the most part GPU accelerated.

  • @Xkoxchoto Ok, so I asked a guy who was running Crysis through Wine on Fedora whether the performance was better in Windows or in Fedora. He said Windows ran faster. Here is the video I commented in. /watch?v=fZ147bcoLi0

  • @0m3n1337 omg fuck off retard with ur 10yo retarded games let's talk about performance and everything shitty face nab bitch I don't care about ur retarded nab 1337fail name. Go play crysis wow and buy winboznolife fuckoff retard OMG :@

  • @Xkoxchoto You are the one acting like a ten your old, I simply checked to see if your facts were correct and when I stated that one of them was wrong you resort to insulting me and try to attack my name. You simply avoided the subject I brought up and resulted to insulting me. Your comment does nothing to make my previous statement invalid. This is why I don't like to comment on YouTube.

  • @0m3n1337

Ye well stop posting dumb shitty comments on youtube. Gates is gay and windows sux. Now go play ur games and don't post comments anymore. And also running games on linux is very simple and need some skill not only installing an emulator and run it. If your friend could've managed his fucking linux there was going to be no problems at all... Now stfu.

  • @Xkoxchoto @Xkoxchoto Your word choice and spelling says a lot about you. If your age is 24 like your youtube profile says so then I am truly sorry that you have failed to mature whatsoever. I never said running Crysis was difficult, the guy I referenced is not my friend, it was simply somebody who posted a tutorial on youtube about how to run Crysis through Wine. I asked him which performed better and he said Windows performed much quicker. You are being illogical.

  • this looks really laggy and dry.

    Perceptive pixel wins

  • Wow, when this gets completed I see see it being used in many places, schools being my first thought.

But yea, it did lag a little but hey, its not a finished product and was probably only just working without crashing during that presentation.

  • JIZZ IN MY PANTS

  • the bloody thing is not responding bill my god either it has not alliterated well or it's jz Microsoft

  • im getting sea sick watching

  • ya he moves his hand, and typically windows, it lags a second before realising what he's just done... and then the windows slide and then jump.

  • LOL! i thought it was a joke

  • just doesnt look fluid...

  • @snip3d05 thats how it starts...its the prototype then he made it perfect

  • i love how at the beginning at the video, the board doesnt work and the video was cut. Nice job Microsoft ;) GO APPLE!!!

  • Of course Microsoft was working on it before Apple. You really think Apple was working on it first? Oh and yes we actually do know Microsoft is a lot more safer than Apple. It's just common sense now. I will never go with Apple EVER!! Long live XP, lol. Oh well I guess everyone will realize it when Apple just fades away......

  • @delta3303 mr cocksucker, he released this after the release of the iphone, so shut the fuck up and get a life

  • This surface interface and technology was imagined by MS way before the design of the iPhone.

  • oh amazing, so u timed the time when they imagined it did u?

  • @projections GREAT! ;)

  • @projections lol...think again

  • oh wow...when did Microsoft start building their OS on a Unix platform? Cool.

  • @DavidOnBass

Don't be an idiot, those videos came MONTHS after Apple's introduction of the iPhone. Microsoft just *claims* they were working on it before, just as they claimed Apple copied Windows with OS X, and just like Bill Gates claimed Windows is super safe and that "security guys break the Mac every day".

We all know how ridiculous that sounds.

  • its kinda useless

  • maybe they should try adding cameras ontop aswell

    make its much more responsive

  • co ti jebe to je jaky trapas.... :D : D...

  • Must be Milo is performing the action after he sees Bill Gates's actions through natal

  • that shit dont works so well, u can see gates have some problem to use that crap

  • Computer isn't our faith...

But for Bill Gates it is..

    "Unfortunately"

  • It's strange how the advert (the video he shows on the surface) shows the touch screen responding much more quickly and smoothly than his actual demonstration.

  • haha good try gates...

  • Gates looks like shit!

  • has bill gate ever heard of the smart board.

Microsoft is a bunch of copiers all they do is copy other people

the smart board does the same stuff and it was out in 2005

  • The software he uses makes sense if you're a distinguished expert on a topic who has large quantities of material on his hard drive and knows that he will have to improvise, e.g. in a Q&A session. But ask yourself this: would such a person ever want to use a touchscreen hardware? Hardly. For this means that he has no keyboard in front of him, and if you ask him a question on the average rainfall in Bolivia, he'll have to navigate through the folders, instead of just searching by key words.

  • Comment removed

  • Does not look responsive...

  • Yeah i have tested one its hard to use and its pretty lage...

  • @bertocaster its probably a prototype

  • @bertocaster this is the first created. did Macintosh look impressive back in 1984, give it 10 years and it will blow you away.

  • OMG. SELL MSFT BUY AAPL

  • not stolen technologies operate less efficiently ...

  • Whether or not this works perfectly, I think the innovation here is quite exciting: Obviously this wouldn't be a great product itself, but the future versions based on it could be pretty awesome.

  • hahah it dosent even work!

  • smart asses

  • vaporware?? o robo de interfaz de Eagle-mode (GNU/Linux)...

  • The touch controls seemed to be very jumpy and in the beginning of the video it wasnt even working so they just cut that out, why to use cameras and not a pressure sensitive surface is beyond me. Also it doesnt really have many advancements just a large touchscreen computer monitor basically.

  • it was probably jumpy in the beginning because Bill Gates didn't realize he should be using single fingers not his whole hand to "point" to things. cameras are cheaper than touch sensitive screens. with touch sensitive screens you have to implement thousands of traces for an array. cameras are more practical for the larger surface.

  • my school has loads of these things...they are absurdly useless

  • you will find that your school has smart boards not uber touch walls

  • they do the same thing essentially, and they really dont have any useful aspects

  • i can see this concept becoming pretty huge but yeah i see what u mean about the smart board lost its novelty after a while

  • I think you will agree that a company like fingerworks, no matter the innovation, does not have the funds nor the market presence to market main stream. Apple does. So are you saying that a company that innovates is a failure because they can't penetrate the market? THAT is why they get bought up. So, yes, I do understand marketing and for you to call such companies a "failure" is beyond ridiculous. Fingerworks had great product that would have benefited any larger company who bought it.

  • ummmmm? fireworks did all the innovation, apple bought it up and incorporated it all. How is that a fail? I think that you do not understand the way things work.

  • Was the smartboard invented during that time?

  • la persona mas adinerada del mundo y gerente de microsoft ..NO puede dar una charla dandole la espalda al mundo... mal hecho gates... buscar otra forma de mostar al mundo los inventos.. no dar la espalda en todo momento....

  • Where are the blue screen??

  • Fingerworks - look it up

  • dude its just like a fucking smart bored. we have those in every classroom in my school

  • no BSOD? come on MS show me one BSOD please

  • its microsoft surface they just put it on a wall so they could see it in the adiunce

  • meh apple has had this since 2005 and they released it in 2007

    OWNED

  • see the thing with apple is that its shite and they are poor so y do u think over the past 2-3 years nobody has cared about their product? whereas the microsoft product will be picked up much more quickly and in greater numbers.

  • being what?

  • finally there's someone out there to say -- "Minority Report's not the only place where you would find such a thing!"

  • Comon right the military, secret governments & the industrial are probably 100 years ahead of Microsoft surface tech right now. They got hte future all worked out for us man. its like truman show already. This is nothing

  • hardly. the technology exists but why spends thousands on a smartboard when u can get the job done just as easily with a regular board. the military/secret agencies/etc dont spend a penny more than it needs to. the top secret tech they have is 50years ahead but its in very very limited use. its the civilian companies and their billions dedicated to just R&D that make things cheaper, more compact, and easily available to everyone.

  • The future computers look like pens. One of the pens projects the monitor & the keyboard & the other pens the computer. Japan have a working model. Holographics man thats the future.

  • yeah,,, i saw one of them!!! (on google) they look awsome, i want one,

  • lmao how can you compare mac with Microsoft lmao hahahahaha very funny mac is nowhere close to the great Microsoft

  • reverse that. pc's are no where near the power of mac's

  • Mac's are nowhere near as fun as PC's.

  • agree

  • smartboard?

  • Laggy xD.

  • Is this a smartboard?

  • No business when showing a demonstration wants someone constantly STANDING IN FRONT OF THE SCREEN. A mouse is still far more practical.

  • Last year Magic Jungle wrote FluidTunes, a universal binary, which Mac users are familiar with. The camera is the key in FT, hence, I won't be surprised if they are behind Microsoft's Wall.

  • Why people mean too much? Touch technology is not apple's exclusive, what about the Nintendo DS?

  • Or the JazzMutant Lemur, which had multitouch technology YEARS before the iphone was released.

  • That's what I'm talking about! X) I mean, Fleischers invented the first cartoons whit sound, and people still belive It was Disney's.

  • apple has some of the best touch technology

  • Well, that's true =)

  • not once Microsoft Surface gets out

  • This already exists.. its called an iphone..

  • actually microsoft started multi touch devices and the iphone can NOT go anywhere near the process power of this program.

  • nee

  • exactly the response i would expect from a brainwashed retard apple fanboy.

  • lol a guy who uses windows calls me ratarded

    ahahahahahah lol

  • Wrong, this is entirely different from iphone and uses completely different technology. comment fail

  • no this thing fails

  • Obviously not if all schools are switching over to it.

  • all schools? no....

  • Eventually? Yes. Just like white boards.

  • my school doenst

  • errm, I'm an apple fan but there's no way that every touch device is an iphone, it looks and works in a completely different way

  • boring...... I can imagine Steve Jobs presenting this...;

  • xxxxxx{;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;>

  • Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.............

  • its called a smatboard

  • he's an awful salesmen.

  • true but not like steve ballmer's approach to advertising is much better

  • This is just Microsoft Surface. It doesn't matter whether the display sits vertically or horizontally.

  • Okay... wow... He copyed the Hand Gestures on the screen from Apple...

  • dude. surface was in development WAY before the ipod touch came out. search it up im not lying

  • not true, the iphone came before the ipod touch so they are probably both the same age BUT this control scheme for surface wasnt shown for ages after the iphone was shown. Which means they obviously seen it's potential for a larger surface and thus copyed it.

  • yes but like everything, apple makes it better
