@Bogie3Flare When a popular company like Google goes public, all that money pouring in will make those who have a stake in the company insanely rich. It is not an expression.. definitely for real!
Google was originally Hitler's brain. For shame, you have all fallen for his stupid shit again. I am giving the previous eight comments a poor comment score.
@SoMuchMass oh just shut up seriously, i am a young web developper. Of course Google is damn huge now, and they are the living proof you can become a leader by investing in visionary ideas and promoting inovation more than profit. I have much respect for them, would you even have imagined being able to view every street of north america 6-7 years ago? I really hope once im done with university and get more experience i would have a chance to work for them it would be an honour and a privilege
@SoMuchMass It's not just their argoritmn, this is the internet you have to stay inovative and competitive or you disapear, not only they have achieved that but they also did not fall into what lot of small comapanies with good ideas simply become average and greedy while they become bigger. They are the world leading internet company and i feel like they are still students playing and experimenting new stuff, everything they come out with is pure genius
I remember the same crap with AOL in the mid to late 90's...teetering around '02. At least AOL was mediocre at best. Google is very concerned about customer satisfaction....people just can't stand a successful company with a large market share.
I still don't agree with google associating IP addresses with search terms at the same time using their services and giving them address info for Google checkout as an example....but I pay nothing for it...still they can do better.
This video is so biased. The eery music at the end, the dramatic questions, the privacy issue blabla. Aggregation (as opposed to direct storage) of user searches for statistics is not an invasion of ones privacy, and the interviewer is obviously so uninformed he cant make the distinction between the two. what an awful anti-google movie, and the very fact that youtube is even hosting this crap is testament to their objective ideology which this movie so desperately tries to undermine.
juju, i also would love to know that music!! (cant get it out of my head) and i would love to work at google, but they only hire 1 in 10,000 applicants these days....
i want to know the name of the song that has the clappin in it does anyone know it by any chance? xD btw it was a great documentary, i would love working at google
Excellent Video. Google a great tool, but saw was/is Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, Ebay and they all seem to have that "ugly capitalistic" image, only Google still manages to hide behind the face of 2 students with "Do No Evil" agenda where as in fact it is really those Top Executives Choice Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, Nasdaq kind of team...sorry guys, but when it comes to money it is just too predictable
Interesting as to how the previous commentors don't seem to have watched the entire 5 part series. This doc is not bad journalism. It's just a rather good, informative film.
And it doesn't take things out of context - have solid examples when you make a statment like that.
Sensationalistic documentary with takes things out of context. Just because Google scans and indexes books, doesn't mean they will own the books. Rather the make information only available to a lucky few, available to billions of people worldwide. That is liberation of information more than anything. This documentary is Bad journalism.
good doc but it was a little hard on google. It doesnt hurt to pose some ethical questions for those behind the scenes at google but since no alternatives were poses and no real criticisms were raised (like googles debacle in China) it was a little alarmist at times.

No Google means no Internet? Everything was in place. Companies like Yahoo had basically what Google had, they just had a different argorithm.

its a company, the goal of almost every company ist to earn money
but I think google ist doing that in a fair way compared to other "money-making-companys"
in every IT system you have discussions about privacy - especially if you run the largest search engine I guess

@CherryStadt Yeah, what the heck, they're giving us stuff for free. Amazing stuff, like I could only have dreamed of as a kid.
