  • Ahh, so beautiful and safe-sounding. It gives a great feeling of being in the sanctity of a castle, away from the monsters. It also works very ironicly in the monster-ruled castles, of course.love 2:32 to end especially

  • Video games can be works of art.....if quality is put in to them, such as with the case of okami.

Anyone that disagrees is just closed minded and unwilling to accept new ideas.

Art is in the eye of the viewer, more opinion than anything.

  • Koji Kondo couldn't touch this.

  • This videos are scary and out of place.. well not exactly out of place.. but i would like to see more dragon quest, and less europian actors and castles.

  • @mirrorpiece How are they scary? It's just a prop put in as a filler for the song. Every band or musician you can think of does it if they have televised songs.

  • Beautiful piece. :]

  • Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, anybody?

  • I'm so glad they made this, and am wondering what they intended for the project of recording this. Perhaps they were just showing off that video games can contain art too. This was before the internet was very popular.

  • Beautiful Song

  • sugiyama makes all other video game composers pale in comparison. give this man a nobel prize or something

  • This was my favorite NES game growing up!!

  • an apt description of yourself

  • The fact that this was written for a video game and written so WELL gives it this feeling that Baroque has been revived for this suite.

Koichi Sugiyama did HAVE to write it well, it was just going to be reduced down to 8-bit. I just like it.

  • I mean he did not have to.

  • I'm pretty sure Sugiyama is a fan of Purcell...

  • really how do you know

  • @brodiger The Introduction to the piece sounds almost identical to the first few measures of Rondo from Purcell's Abdelazar suite save for a few things. I'd chalk it up to coincidence, but seeing as DQII's Chateau Ladutorm is basically Bach's Air in C Major, it wouldn't surprise me if Sugiyama used it as his influence for this theme, which is totally fine. I love them both anyway.

    /rant

  • yeah I Love these songs to Sugiyama is a genies

  • This piece actually matches a lot of the qualities in Baroque-period pieces O.o

MY GOD IT SOUNDS SO MUCH LIKE ONE!

  • A lot of his castle themes have this quality. This one in particular, but all of them are amazing pieces.

  • Love this song!

  • =D Koichi-san you're the closest to bethoven on this days!!!

  • The violin is full of energy!!

  • the song is very nice, but the orchestra doesn't plays it well.... esspecially the beginning should be pointed out more, but... never mind....
