I wish it will never be forgotten. EVER! Cheers for all actors and everyone who took their part in making this amazing show. *Takes a gulp of whiskey*. And for all of you fans just like i am - remember this show. Forever. P.S. I'm sorry for my bad english - i'm too overwhelmed with emotions.
You know, apart from all this political crap going on the comments, I'd just like to say this is the only TV show/movie scene that's ever made me cry.
@bannedbyMusloons That they began to regulate in 1913 does not mean it caused the great depression. And that is absolute truth you conveniently ignore. You are far more like the assholes in the epsiode where they tried to rewrite history. Sheridan fought for change, growth, freedomm, & justice. All things you conservatives hate. Your tea-party friends now want to remove slavery from the hsitory books to make the founding fathers look better. Conservatives rewrite history, not Liberals.
@bannedbyMusloons The absolute truth is that the Federal Reserve had little if any regulatory powers at all. Businesses still largely had a free reign to do whatever they wanted. They made unwise business choices, & since there was no government to stop them, they all but completely ruined the American Economy. It was only because of things like the Federal Reserve that there wasnt a complete collapse. FDR strengthened the FR & other organizations to make sure it wouldnt happen again.
@bannedbyMusloons And, had you conservatives left those regulations & guidelines & systems in place, we wouldnt be in the situation we are in. The FR was started by a conservative president. Or are you forgetting that absolute truth? Stop being such an epic failure.
when mira furlan spoke at the calgary comic expo this last year, she mentioned this scene and how it was often mentioned by fans, so I think for her and for us this moment is one of the finest scenes on tv ever filmed. Very powerful and represents how each of us deal with death and passing and the loss of loved ones.
I didn't cry when my Great-Grandma died, either of my Grandmas, my Grandpa, my Uncles, or my Aunts died. But this scene makes me cry every time I watch it.
i only hope when my time comes i get to say this to my girl as bravely as this is acted i stream everytime i watch this episode every single time greatest sci fi series ever made bar none
What I'd like to know is what is with there son, I mean did that Drahk creature get him like others of its kind got the Regent of Centauri Prime and Londo or what?
@michaelhviper He was at Ranger Training at the time. The Drakh creature did get him but they managed to find a way to remove it. Like Usul573 said they cover that in one of the book series, Legions of Fire I think it is called.
To know you are going to die, to know the date, to realise that your soul-mate knows as well, to walk away, to meet them, to say goodbye, knowing there was NO HOPE of you ever meeting again .... could you stand where Delann stood, could you do it? I do not think I could have the strength of character to do, what Delann did.
Damn this final scene with Delenn and Sheridan gets me every time -_-
There's a moment where you see him pausing and I just want him to turn around, look back and say something, anything to Delenn and it breaks my heart when he just recovers himself and walks off the screen *tears up*
It always upset me that for reasons unknown I never cried when I watch Sleeping in Light. I'm certain that my expected lifespan has decreased because my tears are not coming out when they should. Nevertheless I keep watching this.
Iwatch baby 5 since I was very little although I did not understand as I do now I rmeber watching this episode one day I felt heart broken captain john a hero of mine another hero of mine j michael straczynski who created a most beautiful series which reflected how much we are human and how much we must keep it for if you don't we will monsters
God, this scene rips my guts out. It's Delenn breaking down, as much as anything. How could one say goodbye to a creature like that? I think I love her more than any other fictional character I've ever encountered.
Did you guys know that Bruce and Mira had problems doing this scene. All the other actors had problems doing their scenes as well this episode because they kept breaking up and start to cry while trying to act. See the tears rolling down their faces? I can assure you, those are genuine tears representing genuine sadness. What an amazing cast for this series. Just, wow... and they grieved the ending even more than we do, for they too saw the value of this exceptional show. Bravo, everyone. Bravo.
I wish i could've done a Farewell like this when my mother passed away, but it came too surprising for all of us... f****** cancer. she left the house on the way to the hospital and none of us knew it was the last time that we saw her..
i don't know why i am telling this to you, but when i see this scene i have to think about it :]
God damn. She tried so hard to be all smiles like he asked. It was the touch on her shoulder. She just couldn't. Heartbreaking. "The brightest star in my sky."
I havn't watched B5 in 2 years I just watched this and cried how can the story still move me so quickly and easily. I wish something as powerful as this series would turn up on TV again
The reason it brought you to tears is because it was the writer's intention. Babylon 5 was, and quite possibly will be, without precedent. The writing, the acting, and the sheer scale of the story arc, puts this on a par with Tolstoy's War and Peace. What makes this a powerful piece of modern fiction entertainment is that it does what ALL great works of fiction have done before. It draws you into the story so you believe in the characters, you feel their pain, their warmth, their passion.
:Don't look away, Captain. All life is transitory, a dream. We all come together in the same place, at the end of time. If I don't see you again here, I will see you, in a little while, in a place where no shadows fall."
-Delenn
I take consolation in the fact that she is right in both the world B5 and ours.
Amazing video
