Is Foursquare Pointless?

To go deep into things, Foursquare as a service may be pointless, but as a business, it's creating jobs. That's good.

Foursquare as a service is meant for entertainment. You said it yourself; it's fun. So I can't help but ask, are Amusement parks pointless? Yes. From the service perspective, nothing is there for a legitimate productive reason, but nobody complains about that.

People need to distinguish fun and productivity more, in my opinion.

I have a Foursquare account and like it but I might have to start using Gowalla more because Facebook owns it now and Facebook is the bomb! They made a movie about Facebook that got nominated for an academy award. So in conclusion, Facebook with Gowalla equals EPIC WIN! Foursquare by itself, kind of stale. Just my two cents. Foursquare is pretty pointless, but who cares? People like it, and people have a good time with it. I use it sometimes, and its fun. I should be the Mayor of the Chipotle near me. I am in there several times a week. Maybe I can steal it next time I go in there.

There is nothing wrong with the like dislike system. The problem is people don't like videos... Currently there are 302views 165likes and 44dislikes 302-(165+44) = 93 people didn't vote. let's say all of them liked the video; that's 258/302 = 85% of people liked this video...

It should be everyone likes the video unless they hit the dislike button.

I thought Foursquare was baisicly the same thing as the Facebook check-in service, which I love. I guess it's a lot different. I'll have to check it out. Plus, you probably don't get those annoying friends on Facebook who think that it's the weirdest thing to check-in. Anyways, great video, thanks for sharing!

@DTownReviews ratings work to a point. I know there are people who dislike David's videos right when they go up just to be an asshole. Also, people dislike videos just because they disagree with the opinion presented in it. The like/dislike rating system also only works properly if you have a ton of views. Now, the majority of videos have a low view count and one dislike can majorly affect the ratings on the video. (I know this from experience.) I would like ratings to not be active until 500+

The dislike system should be the same on every YT video. What it should be is if you Like the video it would just go through because you wouldn't need to explain why you liked it cause you obviously watched the video. But if you disliked it, it should have a pull down bar and ask you why you didn't like it, and if your answer happens to be reasonable it should go through. But if your answer is completely irrelevant with the video the "bot should see it automatically and veto the dislike invalid.

The ratio is what tells you if the video is good or bad. It tells you you have some things to work on..not saying i dont either. We all do.
