  • It should have been at Windsor , save a lot of money and much more user friendly than the centre of London

  • It makes me sick hearing all these tossers banging on about how great it's gonna be.

Nobody interviewed here give a damn about the park and other people criticise 'local people' for whingeing. Well, perhaps that's because they know FAR MORE than you and actually care about the park they spend use and enjoy all the time. The route (as of Sept 2010) has already been marked in the turf - and people say no trees will be affected?

  • I think that it will be a fantastic venue, I admit it looks too nice to destroy in a way, but it's only temporary.

  • Id love to be in the olimpics doing swimming :)

  • I think chopping down trees doesn't get any more PERMANENT,

I've see at least 10 new tree stumps in the last 24 months. THREE HUNDRED YEAR OLD TREES!!! GONE!

  • Well watch the film, you'll meet quite a few. I personally think its a shame that you are so narrow minded that you can't tell the difference between "whingeing morons" and people who are realistic. Ah well, some people are just beyond help I suppose....

  • Never called you a nationalist, just said you seemed to be so overcome by nationalist pride at this point (which can sometimes be good) that you, who are calling me narrow minded cannot open your mind to see that there are far more suitable locations for the equestrian events to be held than Greenwich, which is a PARK and quite simply not suited to the kind of activities that the olympics will entail. The sailing isn't being held in London, why does the riding need to be?

  • Me, I mentioned national pride, and it's not a bad thing to wave your flag at the right moment. Greenwich has been in a positive light for a long time, it does not need this. I never made a leap to racisim, it appears that you have done this by all by yourself, work out how your own mind works before questioning others. And at least we agree on two things, I too despise the BNP and also (although more that) myopic cynincs. However unlike you I do favour pragmaticism in lieu of flights of fancy.

  • It's a shame beacause I checked out your profile and I would say I would agree with most of the things you have posted. However here, sir, I'm afraid that you are quite wrong. Let's just hope you're not a member of the BNP after I said I agreed with mlst things on your profile eh?

  • Well if you must get personal I would say that you are an extremly narrow minded and selfish individual who is so desprate to augment the idea of nationalist pride that you can't see the reality that such a venture would have on the community of Greenwich Park and the inhabitants who are the true locals, the true residents of London. Scarcely a cynic nor a member of the RMT I am a documentary film maker. My job is to show the truth, not through a white rose tinted lens.

  • lungs. As for tourism I woul venture to say that Greenwich is already famous enough to hold it's own in tourist season without the added publicity that that the olympics will bring. The Greenwich meridian and observatory alone attract millions of tourists a year. And during the olympics tourists won't even be able to get to the park. I'm afraid the publicity argument is rather a weak one. And I wouldn't call myself unwashed, had a shower this morning.

  • I didn't ask you to be a horticultural expert to understand pruning, I asked you to consult one about the damage to acid grasslands, as I myself am no expert but have spoken to some who have, unfortunatly given me what you would call a doom and gloom reaction, which I call reality. Listen, London is a great city, one of the greatest in the world and Greenwich Park is one of the Lungs. It is still perfectly easy to show off our city with the olympics without potentially massacaring one of it's

  • Pruning is permanent as they will be cutting branches that have never been cut back so far before, as will be the damage to the acid grasslands (ask a horticultural expert for conformation on this one) and as the roman remains have never had machinery or 1500 pound horses running over them before who are you to say that there will be no damage? And exactly what do you mean by "you people" who do you think "you people are?"

  • No permanent changes? What are YOU on about. Of course the Park will change, "pruning" of trees that have never been pruned so heavily, damage to rare acid grasslands and historic roman remains that lie only a few inches below the surface, not to mention the potential dangers of the conduits which run throughout the park that could not only destroy immense wealths in architecture but also lead to a serious catastrophe on the part of the olympic riders. suggest you watch "saving greenich park"

  • Make the most of the beautiful historical landscape it'll never be the same after 2012, what sad shame!

  • I really want to go

  • They have never been to Greenwich park before!?!

  • This looks awesome... I didnt even relise it was there! haha! Londons gonna rock the boat rock the boat baaaaaaaby!

I hope we get loads of medals in 2012 to complete an excellent year... can we fig it in anyway? ahahahaha

  • I agree!

  • I hope the event organisers make a jump that actually is on the Meridian Line. That would be awesome!

  • @Hornbag77

    I agree

one on and another one over
