In receptor mediated endocytosis, the binding of ligands to receptors trigger vesicle formation. ( Cholesterol + LDL bind LDLR, removes cholesterol from bloodstream) This process is specific and results when substances that are in low concentration or only to be used in specific cell types.

After the vacuole is formed, it fuses with a lysosome(contains degradative enzymes) for digestion.

@hui93623 cholesterol is the mother steroid. Free cholesterol floating in the cell can help in the stabilization of the cell membrane most specifically to stabilize the phospholipid bilayer. It also allows cells most specially those in the gonads to synthesize steroid/lipid hormones such as testosterone and progesterone.
