@sparke247 There was actually two more minutes before this video which makes more sense. The father found the robot as scrap in a junk pile and took it with him. Plus they make a living selling puppets...not a lot of money there. Considering he can either use a lot of material to make a wheel chair, and also needs to buy other materials, or make puppets to just live, you can see the logic.

Plus a metal robot chair is a lot tougher to survive a fall down the stairs.
