  • Awesome project, im building a synthesizer for my electronics coursework at college. Making good progress with it: i have a VCF, an LFO, two digital PIC oscillators with individual waveshapers and a 3 octave keyboard. :)

  • and when can i listen it :c

  • It's in my studio. Hooked up and ready to go. Just missing someone using it :) But it's used in the track "Summer Evening". Just check this vid. or the "DIY Synthesizer Demo".

  • Awsome :D

I wanna learn how to build stuff like this my self.

Ive been thinking to try some simple stuff as winter project.

  • Very nice modular design.

  • You have an awesome accent dude!

Where'd you learn how to do this?

  • It's just my school english without having native speakers or so around to improve the speech :)

Ah. You mean the electronics. In fact - i don't know. I started playing around with electricity with 6 years, later had a standard education in electronics, did nothing for 15 years and suddenly had the interest back again.

Most knowledge comes via google :)

I think, the trick is - not learning everything in detail, but understand the basics very good and use those fundamentals for the rest.

  • Genius :-)

  • I had a listen to some recordings, Mik-one sounds great. It has cool possibilities once the modulation gets complex.

Thanks for describing your work flow. I am a bit different - I avoid the breadboard.

Which literature do you find particularly useful?

    I like:

    Musical Applications of Microprocessors (Chamberlin)

    Electronic Music Circuits (Klein)

  • I wouldn't start developing such circuits without my breadboard :) When i started synth-DIY in 2006, i really needed to experiment around a lot. Even today - where i think i can develop a circuit and put it together and it just works - i would miss the breadboard to verify and optimize everything.

I don't have lots of literature. I read the most stuff online, Wikipedia, Google. My literature are the datasheets of the components i use :)

  • amazing workmanship... the symmetry in your component layouts. when the video started, my question was "which CAD software did you use"... but then at 2:30 you are saying that this is mostly done from your head w/ no schematics?! total respect, man, total respect. but won't you find it difficult to go back and edit things? I wish you showed more of the bottom side of the boards... Anyway, your work is beautiful. I cant wait to hear the Mik-one. PS I do similar stuff, visit sometime. -EA

  • Damned. Again the first reply was dropped by YouTube. So the short version :)

CAD software - yes, gEDA is my favourite on OSX via the Fink project.

Editing - not necessary usually - i build the modules when everything is well-tested on the breadboard.

For more stuff, i added the link to the home page of the MiK-one in the video info, there you find sounds, photos and more.

  • It remind me of the type of work that STEVEN WOZNIAK was doing at Apple , i cant believe my eyes ,,,ayayayaye i am sudenly so small ,

  • Hi , this is very elegant electronic art , perfect presentation , whow ! i am very far from this perfection , good lord , are you working at at&t ? genius work , almost out of this world, alien like perfection , i will keep my eyes wide open on your site .

  • Thank you for the flowers. No, i even don't work in electronics at all, i just use this as compensation for my boring job in a datacenter of a large enterprise :)
