@Moopx2 Second one I've finished too, after Hanako. I think the ending is more affecting than that one though. It's less straightforward, more bittersweet... I like it better that way. It feels like there's a deeper meaning in there, somewhere. Takes more consideration.
I did the Hanako route first and I feel in love with her
...But then I did the Rin route (after my friend convinced me to do it) and now I just don't know what to think, I haven't slept in 2 days because all I can think about is how amazing Rin is
Wow, the Cast Away comparison is perfect. I remember tearing up at Wilson's departure, and now, having fallen in love with a fictional blind woman, I think I'd honestly start bawling if I rewatched that scene now. Which I most certainly shall not do, in the interest of keeping my man card.
The moment where Hanako is holding the doll Lilly got her and he chest set hit me so hard in the heart I couldn't sleep for a hour. It was so beautifully precious and made me want to hold onto her forever not protecting her, but loving her for who she is...silly I know , but at-least I will admit it.
@moffetdamacy You'd have to be either a robot or some kind of soulless zombie to not tear up at Rin's path. I had to take breaks to just calm my nerves sometimes, it really got to me. It's a very unique love-story, where you're never really sure how to feel or think.
@eviljoel "cause talking to Rin is like playing chess with a super-computer that does seemingly random moves to mock your knowledge of chess, with human interaction, no matter how you win... you'll lose"
-got it from a scene where you and Lilly walk back to the dorm to find Rin doing the opposite
Hey man, I practically cried like a bitch when I got Lilly's GOOD ending on my first playthrough. I'd probably be reduced to the fetal position by Rin's path, if your description is anything to go by.
@salvo711 Lilly is the happy, carefree route in KS, at least compared to the rest of the girls. Rin's route is the one that makes grown men depressed for a week. There's no happy ever after and no grand plans for the future. And still, it's my favorite ending in the game.
@salvo711 And tha'ts just Rin's GOOD ending. I'm just grateful I didn't get the bad ones (she has like three of them!) at my first try, or I'd probably ruin my tear-ducts.
@BelloBabyPanda *SPOILER ALERT* While I can see why some people argue that Rin's bad ending is better than her good ("at least this way she gets a career"), I don't quite agree. While they still never fully understood each other or even themselves, they still end up happy. Neither of them know if they have a future to look forward to and frankly none of them cares. Because Hisao has made Rin understand that he's there for her, and Rin is happy. And that's all I need.
@eviljoel *SPOILER ALERT abour Rin* (just in case)
=================================
I think that Rin's path is akward all the long, the bad endings are sad, but the good ending is, I don't know how to say that (I'm french :o), it's like the end of something.
They are happy, but it's the end of the school if I remember.
Like there will be nothing else, nothing better, don't know,
m'kay, I said "the good one is worse than the 2 bads", not exactly what I wanted to say,
I just think that, all this akward happiness, all this strange feelings, the whole Rin's history... it's really painful for us, readers ^_^ like Cast Away (but in that case it's)
The end of all of that, it's hard for our manliness, and our Play-Doh heart. :]
(no edit option with YouTube, sry for the 3 posts :$)
-- like Cast Away (but in that case it's -SAD-)
-- Now I know how I feel this ending : it's like being at the edge of a mountain, you can't go higher. It's the end of your ascent, an hard one, you can only go down now.
But here, the story end just at this moment, when they are at the top.
@eviljoel It's strange. Rin's path was the only path that I had to take breaks for. Them feels man.... I really didn't know what to do at times. Confused, hurt, happy, sad, I was never really sure. All I know is this visual novel was done so professionally... I don't know what to say from here on because it's perfect. To me.
@eviljoel playing Rin's path, and I feel as if the tears shall soon flow forth. I'm one of those people who just DOES NOT CRY, and this game.... this freaking game, man... OH GOD HANAKO AND RIN THE FEELS!!!
@TheHaLoJeDi I'm one of those people who easily get very emotional, but for some reason I never cried during Hanako's path. Maybe it was that it just didn't hit me as hard after Rin's route. Don't get me wrong, Hanako has some very, very strong scenes, but because of personal reasons I could really identify with both Rin's problems and Hisao's frustration with trying to get closer to her.
I played this game over and over.
But I haven't cried.. But the story is so touching..
I feel soo bad. =(. Rin <3.

A friend of my told me about this game last week. I was curious.
Downloaded last Sunday:
Emi's part beetween Sunday and Monday, cute, and nice, but ok and hopefull almost all the long
Rin's part this night (10h reading), silent, calm at the beginning, cruel and hard until the end, and then, this music, the ending.
Whaw, this story broke me, never felt like that a lot in my life, even more for something that is not a person, (the movie Cast Away I think)
And I'm not the only one touched by this.

Or did I lose that when I downloaded this game?

@salvo711 In this kind of situations, forget about the manliness !
It's not a shame not to be "a robot or some kind of soulless zombie" sometimes.

@Quadrolithium Hisao also describes her as a mirror that doesn't reflect anything, which pretty much sums up how I felt about her most of the time.

It's ridiculous how attached you get to the first girl you choose, though. Exceedingly glad I picked Lilly, in any case... she's just wonderful.
Goddamn, she's a fictional character...FICTIONAL CHARACTER, salvo... Christ, this game manipulates your emotions as if they were fucking Play-Doh.

I tried Rin's bad endings before the good one.
Wahw, especially one of the two...
And then the "good" ending... wtf, I thought it would be like Emi's ending, just happy XD
In fact, the good one is worse than the two bad !
So, Emi, Rin, and few days ago, Shizune (not as good as the two I thnik, but after Rin, it was expectable).
Hanako and Lilly left !
What a game !
