holy shit Mick!! do some more coke u spaz!! He cant even chill out a little bit for this song? It wouldve been better if he didnt look like he almost overdosed on stage.... I think so at least
i think micks dentures came loose when he sang "and love you once moOore" .. honestly.. ok probably not but i dunno.. he's still cooler than ill ever be
Many times we hear a cover and think it's the original.I like a lot of covers more than the original. Early Beatles albums had covers of songs that I liked better than the originals. And just about anybody who ever covered a Bob Dylan song did it better than Mr. Zimmerman, in my humble opinion. I think Bob is/was a great songwriter, but I just can't take his vocals. (except on "Lay, Lady Lay")
Example: Mr. Tambourine Man was much better by "The Byrds" than the Dylan version. (IMHO)
@Dukegoober I respect everybody's oppion ... we all have diffrent tastes ... and that's what's good about sharing views. I fully agree with ya with Lay Lady Lay... one of my all time fav. from Dylan and by mentioning another one ...Knocking on Heaven's Door is his song ... yet, I fully love Bryan Ferry's cover. Thank-you for reflecting to my comment. Wish ya a lovely week-end from ver the Ocean :-)))
@laggie: "Heaven's Door," a favorite Dylan opus, as G&R were a great band in their moment, Axl tends to "over-sing" at times. "Heaven's Door" was one of those times.Their version wasn't humble as it should have been,an example of Axl's "over-singing," awesome as he is on his own music, and "some" covers. I don't know how "Illusion" was sold over there, but here it was on concecutive nights at midnight,"I-1" at midnight Tuesday, and "I-2" midnight Wednesday,or the next week maybe? They lined up.
anyone who has ever heard otis knows that no one can put the soul in a verse of music like he can, so i just appreciate this for what it is, a good band's interpretation of a good song, made great by otis redding.
@132gibson Otis is good and awesome vocals but this song here just fits the stones i mean mick really puts heart and soul into this so i do like the Stones version a lot better. This is Outstanding and blows u away!
@simpcf I most certainly agree. I do appreciate the Stone's rendition as honoring Roosevelt Jamison, the song's writer, and Otis Redding, whose sensational performance brings this song to life everytime we hear it. Wright's original version is a great first step towards the amazing version by Redding.
imaging Mick Taylor playing lead guitar on this....WOW!!! They gotta get him back in the band...Ronnie just isn't that good...he's a bloody poser....nice guy.....the Stones really need the other Mick back.
Man, this is one of the worst covers I have ever heard. Willie Mitchell and O V Wright have got to be turning over in their graves. There's not even a descent guitar solo in the song to even make worth listening to. As much as I like the Rolling Stones this is really an insult. It's like they are making fun of the song.
This is an O.V. Wright song people! Give credit where credit is due. Check him out and see where these silly white boys screwed up this song............
I first heard this song by the stones, live on one of their older albums..I liked it then,,and can really enjoy Micks energy at the time of this recording. Granted, Otis is the original, ma be the best,,but I do like the stones,,,,Peace
@aged2gold I agree. Love the Stones. Otis not given enough credit. He did RESPECT, SITTING ON THE DOCK OF THE BAY & a few others. Too bad he died early. He would have been greater.

The Rolling Stones have just destroyed one of the greatest songs ever - shame on them + eternal damnation (Micks whoo hoo hoo just sealed it) - Otis rules nd rocks
You spose Ron Wood gets a little nicotine buzz with the butt in his pick hand? (It can't make him a better player, can it? Maybe the challenge of not crushing the filter gives his pick-holding just the right balance of delicacy and strength!) And hey, Grandpa Jagger sounds pretty good, as usual, as does everyone. I think that Watts guy is gonna make it as a drummer! Obviously great song by an obviously great band. Hard to top Otis, though.
Between 2:30 and 2:40 there is Daryll Jones....as far as I know he's the bass player. (and you can surely hear him alll thh way). Ok: he's not William Perks but can still handle that 4-string monster.
the reason you cannot see the bass player is because of this: a few years ago Bill Wyman was let back into the Stones (ironically, once again the sole reason is that he had his own amp) on the condition that he stand backstage during shows as a punishment for causing problems in the past.
J'y étais et ne m'en suis toujours pas remis.....même le souvenir des abattoirs en 76 n'est pas aussi fort que ce concert qui me donne encore la chair de poule et plus particulièrement ce petit bijou !
fun thing happened when they did this in Sweden, Keith took off his guitar and gave Mick a big hug and said in the mic: "This is the man, this is the man! "
