  • Wow... i never knew frogs can be that small. The smallest frog i ever saw was a full yellow frog which was about two times bigger than that near a canal that i use to walk along to kill time. Very cool. Thanks for showing, amazing.

  • holy shit!

  • kawaiii

  • this reminds me the time when i found a tinny frog in hawaii..... funny thing was that i told my uncle who lives in hawaii of the frog i found and he was shocked because what looked like a harmless tinny frog was actully posionouse!!!!! (sorry forgive my spelling) and that if i rubbed my eyes then i would go blind o.O luckly i washed my hands after holding the little frog so that didnt happen XD

  • i thought it was fake coz at 0:29 it looks like its leg is glitched in your hand

  • @shaunTalexander It's very real. The leg is just bent and the foot is tucked under part of the leg. It has 2 joints, the equivalent of a knee and an ankle.

  • kawaii!!!

  • Kawaii!

  • Fuckin' tiny ass frog

  • :( so small

  • I am amazed how tiny the frog is. Is that baby? What species of frog are they known as? Since they are small are they poisonous? Judging by the color I suspect not, but looks can be deceiving.

  • worst pokemon ever.

  • Wow!!!!!!.........(o_o)

  • こんな蛙が日本にいるなんて知らなかったw

  • I'm guessing its a recently-metamorphosed Japanese Toad, Bufo japonicus. It will be like 5 inches-long in a couple of years. I can't believe they are that tiny first!

    Thanks!

PS: I'd love to see mature toads!

  • Funny how as soon as you said it's playing dead it sprung to life as if saying "argh, you got me!"

  • that is soo cool. iv always wanted to go to japan. what spot are you in?

  • @Pure2Trance Thanks for watching! My family and I live in Shizuoka city which is very near Mt. Fuji. ~Kurt :-)

  • @softypapa iv watched all your leach vids lol. and whats it like there? it looks really beautiful

  • @Pure2Trance This part of Japan is lovely all year round, though especially so during the late spring/early summer rainy season. The weather is typically warm and mild most of the year. ~Kurt :-)

  • @softypapa cool so do u think i would be a good vacation spot? (if i ever go)

  • What an amazing little frog!

  • @Claycat4 I am hoping to return to this spot late this spring to film these frogs with my new HD camera. I am happy you could come along on this outing via the magic of YouTube. ~Kurt :-)

  • you search for leeches? may I ask why? and wow that frog is tiny. I can't stop myself from imagining how horrible it would look if you accidentally stepped on it.

  • @kanamechidori I search for more than leeches as just about everything which crawls, slithers or creeps is of interest to me. There is nothing I like more than turning over rotten logs in a forest to see what scrambles out. Maybe that's why nobody ever wants to go hiking with me. :-)

  • wow!

  • How cute! I would have the little cutie as a pet, just to not come on the tough of it getting eaten D:

  • omg its tiny!!! i had no idea they would be that tiny! its as small as the tadpoles over here haha

  • awweee Ive caught some like that in Hawaii!

  • Hello zorp311, Thank you for the kind words. It's nice to have a little free time in my life lately to get out and have fun with the camera. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Kurt :-)

  • Very cute!! And probably a hard find, I imagine. How did you first catch it?

    ~Kat

  • Hi Kat, Funny you should ask... I found this little frog while standing in the middle of a leech-infested marsh. I was hoping to film a leech in the process of ambush and was using myself as bait and scanning the ground for any inbound leeches (there were several coming after me when I saw the frog). I made a quick video of the frog before I had to resume my lookout for the approaching leeches (one had already climbed on my shoe!). I wonder why noone likes to hike with me?? -Kurt :-)

  • Very cool.

I found a small toad one time that was only like twice the size of that one. I believe it was just very young but I am not sure.

  • wow.. i wonder how big it was when it was just a tadpole...

  • Hello splitza, Great question! I may need to go back and see if I can locate any tadpoles for this frog. -Kurt :-)

  • Wow! that's amazing. I've never seen a frog so small.

  • Hi BusanKevin, This frog made me curious about just how small frogs can get and so I checked. It seems that the title of smallest frog in the world is currently held by a diminutive hopper from Cuba called Eleutherodactylus iberia, with females measuring only 9.8 mm! I wonder what the croak of such a small frog might sound like??? -Kurt :-)

  • haha yea good point. I wonder what a frog like that would sound like?
