Pilobolus (the dance troup in the video) was on Oprah a while back and did mention that they do use props when it is necessary. the bullet is a case of this. I also believe that if you want the scene with the van a prop was used in this as well.

Very cool. Each segment is two clips. 1st segment is them as the object (penguins, bus, gun) 2nd segment is them breaking from the object and rolling off to the stage edges. They play the 2nd segment backward (so it looks like they are coming together) and then play the 1st segment (penguins walking, Forrest running, gun shooting). You can tell the 2nd segments are in reverse by the way the actors roll.
