I shower at night, go to bed with wet, loose hair, brush it as soon as I'm out of the shower and I somehow manage to not get split ends. I don't know...

@naillife it its no problem ;) I have long curly hair, and after watching this video, what I do is brush my hair before is wet and only when they are dry comb to straighten (when hair is wet comb it with your fingers and so do not break). Now do not lose hair to brush and my hair is strong and beautiful. the trick is not to join the ends with the top of the head when you wash. that's what works for me personally.

@izzi349 I have the same issue, my solution is just don't brush it when it's soaking wet, and use a good detangling cream or serum. while I'm in the shower with damp hair (not soaking) I'll load up my hair with conditioner and brush out most of it right there. then when I get out I pat it down with a towel to take out most of the water. @izzi349 next I put in TRESemme Flawless Curls Hydration Lotion Creme and brush it out again. then I put in Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Style Gel and finger comb it/style it. the most important thing is to make you sure always brush from the bottom and then slowly work your way up. make sure you NEVER tug or pull on knots. @izzi349 if you hit a knot then take your brush out and start from the bottom again. your brush should always glide through your hair; tugging and pulling stretches and rips your hair, especially when it's wet because that's when your hair is the most elastic. hope that helps!

lol my hair is relatively short. just about shoulder length. and i'm trying to grow it out =( it's really thick and uber coarse (typically asian hair) and i bought a wide tooth-ed comb to comb it while it's wet but i found it caused more knots rather than my paddle brush. =_=" and it's not long enough for me to braid it and not come out immediately after.. any other tips?? =_=" i haven't cut my hair in 6 months and i don't usually get split ends either. =/ anything would be great!

I don't understand why people think brushing your hair wet damages it. I always brush it twice while wet, before mouse and products and after, before blow dry. Never used a wide comb in my life and hair dressers are always telling me my hair is healthy etc..  Well except when I fried it with bleach after accidentally dying it black.. And using anything other than brushes, preferably paddle, gives me awful knots and makes it frizzy. Really don't know how people do it.

@beachcurlss if that's what you're worried about try french braids, gives tons of volume and if you do it loose it doesn't get odd crimps. Also if you do it on dry hair that doesn't have a mouse that makes it more malleable it might not crimp at all. Do it on a day when you might be flat ironing it or wearing it up, that way if you don't like the result it won't show. =)
