  • LOVE WILL TEAR US APART (miłość nas rozdzieli) tłum.Beksa

Gdy rutyna boleśnie kąsa, a ambicje są małe

Uraz się zwiększa, lecz emocje nie rosną

A my się zmieniamy i wybieramy różne ścieżki

    Miłość, miłość ponownie nas rozdzieli

    .....

  • .......

  • Yes, I agree that this group introduced something new. Still, I prefer the original sang by Ian Curtis.

  • Das ist eines der wenigen Lieder die mich permanent durch mein Leben begleiten. Auch wenn ich Joy Division liebe, aber das Cover ist phänomenal! Love u Swans!

  • this is fucking terrible

  • BAHAHAHAHA i wonder what they think of this nowadays

  • ewwww this is gross

  • your heart beats you late at night.

  • Beautiful !!

  • I didn't know that the Crash Test Dummies covered this song.

  • Damn good cover. Heard it for the first time like 20 years ago, still awesome.

  • Deffo a mistake, down to the misheard lyric: "Does my timing not float?"

  • @mrparsnip haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • ale gówno

  • @DustinDollin69 niestety nie pokazuje tych emocji co Joy Division.

  • @lovely1455 No niestety, najgorszy cover jaki słyszałem. Wokal stara sie chyba za bardzo naśladować Iana.

  • Isn't this a cover of a Paul Young song?

    (runs for cover)

Yes, not the best they ever did. You can't scare your neighbours with this.

  • @nizzleburger No. It's originally a Joy Division song. But everyone and their grandmothers have covered this song.

  • @nizzleburger Are you retarded?!?! This is a Joy Division song. Crawl back under the rock you came from.

  • @Deformographist Jarboe is an incredible woman with a fascinating past, don't compare her to some attention hungry media whore from the 90s. I like Courtney Love too in her way but really, that was a pretty stupid comment.

  • nice blast from the past

  • the pauses kinda get annoying

  • They were just at Roskilde Festival, Denmark.

    Much love.

  • ....never forgot this song/cover from Swans.I love it !!!

  • Nice singer's timbre!! Remembers me of David Bowie.

  • My Goddess. I used to have this.. On red vinyl. Really. :)

  • So many covers are just the same song played by a different band, but Swans have actually re-interpreted this song and made it into something new. Well done to them.

  • Wow, never heard this.. I love it!

  • yeah at least now we know where Courtney Love stole her mid 90s look from...

  • No Courney Love there...

  • Come on The swans! Promotion to the Premiership WOOI!

  • They picked up an already great song and turned into into a gem!

    Great cover by The Swans!

  • Best cover of this song i've heard for a looong time!

  • @clancy2k yes!

  • ta typiara wygląda jak by miała się pożygać

  • needs to be handed down from generation to generation for the mere educational purpose of teaching upcoming composers how NOT to cover a song.

  • I think it's pretty dam lovely.

And it's really funny how Gira and Jarboe look in this video. K and C must have taken some inspiration from them.

  • I actually like the Swans cover better then the original by Joy Division, it has a darker Gothic romance feel to it.

  • the best ever cover

  • Hmm, not really feeling this one. I think I can see why Gira thought it was a mistake.

  • Brilliant, thanks for posting. Anyone got "Time is Money"?

  • And I saw them yesterday at Oporto. Amazing!

  • Better than original by far!

  • @wassjo I'm not sure about that but i do love this cover

  • I love covers that are original and do the song some sort of justice. This however is a dreadful cover of a song that really should'nt even be covered as it's perfect as it is. The Pet Shop Boys did one of the best covers of all time of Elvis' Always on my Mind. There are some fantastic covers out there, so shut your fukin trap, asshole!!

  • PILKS WILL TEAR YOU APART AGAIN

  • fuckin dreadful!!!! Really bad.

  • @clearviewmind I have seen your posts on covers of love will tear us apart. If you dont like covers dont view them. Why dont you find yourself a life and leave us to hear good music.

  • My favorite love will tear us apart cover by far!

  • yah!! listen up to these survivors, children of the webernets, listen up

  • The thing is now that it is Swan will tear the others apart. Get with the programme.

  • i don't understand even the point of talking about jarboe

  • Actually, it came out in Spring 1989.

  • I've always liked this better than the original.

  • This is the style Curtis sang the song in originally. I have an unreleased recording of the demo and he sounds just like this...x

  • Comment removed

  • seems like swans one desperate attempt at commercial recognition. i love both bands, but this is a low point indeed.

  • @evillurkswithinusall:

    oh, come on already !

  • Courtney Love obviously stole her look from Jarboe.

  • please keep this online- forever :)

  • You have to have guts to cover a Joy Division song and do it well, and this is one that does LWTUA justice. Very well done

  • I like more Swans than Joy Division. Original is great and this cover is prtty good. But if I need to choose between the excelent band Joy division and the Swans. I take the Swans.

  • The original IS way too uptempo for the subject matter, so was the whole concept of Joy Division; they named themselves after a nazi regime, after all. Art is irony...

This cover is not only amazing, it is necessary. Poetry is not for those who write it, it is for those who need it. i have heard many of bands cover this song for the same reason, it is the oral history of a great man who was wise beyond his years....

  • I always thought the original was way too uptempo for the subject matter. The Swans have done the song great service.

  • @livewire242

No way; the original is perfect, and the Swans version is pretty good too, like a totally different song.

Also, I don't think it was a mistake for Swans to cover 'LWTUA'; I like what they did

  • @livewire242 I had stopped believing in CLOWNS, thank you.

  • havent listen to heaps of either swans or joy divison, but personally like this version better.

  • @BlackRainbowVamp

    I like the keyboards, guitar, and vocals on the original;

I've recently discovered that the guitar intro sounds a lot like Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains The Same",

    whatever one makes of that

  • I was watching Lawrence Welk show 1-3-11 and Larry Hooper was on singing OH HAPPY DAY and darn if he did not sound just like Michael Gira.

  • @TheOldEchoes Obviously not familiar with the overwhelming awesomeness that is Swans.

  • @you4n00b Indeed, I have kept the black sleeve 12" record for over twenty years - for me, the rest of their stuff doesn't last the distance.

  • JARBOE I FUCKING LOVE YOU!

  • this is more like bowie space oddity-era covering joy division

  • how old is this vid?

  • Probably the best cover of "love will..." ever made. It perfectly matches the ironic contrast between the tragic lyrics and the light music

  • Swans have reunited and are now touring!

  • @tjsbigidea I've seen them yesterday. Angry old men ;-) Aggressive and still VERY loud.

  • @tjsbigidea They will be in Slovenia on 24.May:)

  • @tjsbigidea I just saw them tonight, it was amazing!!!

  • @tjsbigidea Saw The Swans last weekend.Awesome stuff.

  • @ukbiggz666 I saw the Swans last week also and they blew fucking chunks, wast of time. They played one note for about 10min, then two songs and then noise for another 15min.. I got pissed off and left after heckeling the fuck out of them inbetween the songs.. the dudes faces turned red onstage.. fuck THEM! They can play if they want to but the refuse to, its actually all a rip-off, they dont want to work..they just want to stand up and improv bullshit bc they are so loaded. Worse than GG Allen!

  • @Gloomshadow100 trolling or not, you sound like an insufferable human being.

  • @truthemulator very much so..

  • @Gloomshadow100 Would help if you could actually spell "GG Allin"

  • @zosothedestroyer oh fuck off..shitbird

  • God Musick.

  • I don't know anything about these guys except that Jarboe recorded an album with Neurosis. That album is great. Also, Joy Division is waaaay overrated.

  • @SillySantaHat 'Joy Division is waaaay overrated.' If only you could spell, we may well pay attention to what you say. Joy Division are astonishing. However, given your name, should we expect you to appreciate any good music?

  • Comment removed

  • @spats67 I suppose I must apologize. My over-sized, Neanderthal forehead sometimes droops over the rest of my face and lands on my keyboard. It just so happens that in this instance it fell upon the "A" key and stayed there for a moment longer than it probably needed to.

Who, by the way, is this "we" you refer to? Am I to believe that you are part of a larger group of Joy Division fans that consider whining and bellyaching to be good music? Anyway, it's not me that you should pay attention to..

  • @SillySantaHat you are an obnoxious idiot

  • @ruggeroization And you, sir, are a name-calling buffoon.

  • idk, I actually like this version more than the original. Much much more, and I love the original.

  • @humanheadcheese you are a homo

  • this is clever.

  • Wait, i'm confused. Why is this a "mistake" version? Did Gira or Swans later regret it or something? I prefer this version to Jarboe's actually (athough both are nice). I really don't get why people have to bash all covers, just appreciate them for their own worth.

  • they play joy division better than new order could do, and it's not even close. I'm not a swans fan, they are okay. I'm just considering whether to go to a swans gig in a couple of nights. i dunno

  • @Glassis6000 What a frign' idiotic comment and I can't even be bothered to explain why.

  • @TheOldEchoes

    thanks for explaining

  • @Glassis6000 Okay then - type in "Joy Division Love will tear us apart harmonica" - from Russia with love you TWAT. This little man plays JD better.

  • @TheOldEchoes

im glad we have cleared that one up then

  • the Jarboe version blows this out of the water. One of the rare instances of a cover version annihilating the original. And every comment posted here is fucking moronic. Were any of you even alive in 1988? Courney Love? what the fuck is wrong with you?

  • @MrOranj I too like the Jarboe version best although the one on Youtube is different from my vinyl - but it doesn't in any way blow the original out the water it's just very good - JD still own this song and always will

  • @MrOranj No, it doesn't. Jarboe's version is also lovely and true, but so is this one. Be glad we have both.

  • Ian had a Jim Morrison sound to his voice. This guy sounds like David Bowie on karaoke night.

  • rufus556, thank you for defending Jarbo, but you do have the year wrong on the start of the "grunge" scene (by the way, we just called in local music here in Seattle), it was more like 82 or 83 with bands like Green River and the Tree people and Grunt Truck. The Swans not realy big in that scene got there look from some where else, but about the same time.

  • @Deformographist @Deformographist This video was made sometime in the mid-eighties. As far as the "rocker chick" trying to look like Courtney Love, I'm not entirely sure that Jarboe could be credited with building a time machine in order to travel ten years into the future and witness anything that Courtney Love would have been involved in. Just a thought.

  • @WithExtremePrejudice "chortle" well said.

  • @WithExtremePrejudice: If anyone could, it would be Jarboe.

  • @WithExtremePrejudice Hahahahaha you Owned that idiot

  • @WithExtremePrejudice Courtney Love?wasn't she married to Hemingway?

  • @WithExtremePrejudice Or COULD she?

  • @Deformographist Hahahaha! Jarboe clearly sat in Marty McFly's time machine, and went forward in time 10 years, saw Courtney, liked the style, and came back, then.

  • @teabagbob

Technically the time machine was Doc Brown's, not Marty's. LOL WHO'S DUMB NOW?!

Seriously though, you guys have got me here. My apologies. If only I could go back in time and play a rockin' Chuck Berry solo instead of commenting on this honestly, pretty unimpressive cover.

  • @Deformographist

'"rocker chick" trying desperately to look like Courtney Love?' What are you talking about that is 24 year old Courtney Love! I remember 1988, it was the start of a legion of tough ladies who adorned themselves with what later would become the Courtney Love look. Grunge (the subculture that spawned the music) started in 1987 not 1994 when MTV introduced it to the world. Although not being Grunge themselves the look was pretty popular by 1988.

  • jarboe is one of a kind...

  • My opinion is: great voice, bad music. Bad because it sounds not with the voice but against it. Well, yes, it's only my opinion so take it as my 2 cents.

    Peace.

  • Why does it say "The Swans" at the start when there isn't a "the" in the band name? Otherwise fantastic cover. Think I prefer it to the original.

  • A fantastic cover of one of the greatest songs ever made. Swans has always been a highly underrated band.

  • @humanheadcheese I TOTALLY disagree with you!!! This is one of THE BEST cover songs ever!!! In my opinion, no other band has covered a song this good like SWANS did to this one. NO disrespect to JOY DIVISION!!!

  • He sounds like Peter Murphy lol it's okay..........

  • It's greater than original.

Pansza1 - koncert Swans był w 1989r.? Jak do tego w ogóle doszło?

  • best cover version ever.

  • Just had a weird thoughts after hearing this song down in male/female duet-Kirsty Maccol and the Pogues would have done a fascinating version of this song.

  • a Polacy cos na ten temat ? piekny kower dżoj dywiżyn...świetna formacja pamietam koncert w remoncie uszy siadaly

  • That's not as bad as i supposed

  • both fucking amazing bands, great cover. one of the few great covers of this song

  • They say, if you have to remake a song, you have to make it sound like it's very convincing as if it was your song. You have to do it real good to convince the audience and to earn their respect. Swans did a very good job in their cover of the song, that it convinced me enough as if it was an original of theirs. Well done boys and girls!

  • i love this version

  • I never understand why swans make this cover... but well is good... swans is one my 5 favorite bands ever

  • Wow. How old is this? Gira looks REALLY young. I've heard this version but had not seen the video. This is one of the better Joy Division covers.

  • the people that can't admire a good cover are the one that only listen to crap

  • this his a brilliant cover of Joy Division´s Love will tear us apart. I love Joy Division and this is one of the many wonderfull tributes to one of the greatest bands of all time. And most people just don't get it... IT IS A TRIBUTE not a new song.

  • I love this cover now, even better than the original, but probably because the original has been so overplayed. so much of their own style is in it without disrupting the original intention/message. it enhances it.

  • Yeah paying homage to their idols.

  • the begining of the end for the swans, nearly as bad as the cure version, gira you should have hanged yourself on dec 31 1987 and a legend would be preserved like joy division. then you would not have been able to shout cocksucker!!!! at me in 1988.

  • @birdandthe Looks like someones holding a grudge?

  • @Roborgcop not a bit, crowd/singer abuse was all part of the game, in 1989 i called his band a pile of shit session musicians, which they were.

  • @birdandthe

'89, eh? By that time all the good stuff was over - that's what you get when you show up late LOL!

  • @DailyBrusher i dedent mention i saw them in 1986 and 1987 LOL

  • @birdandthe Ridiculous rubbish from one of those "fans" who demand that their favorite band stay in a musical straitjacket and never branch out or change. I like both era Swans, and have no problem praising both. So should you.

  • @ I wouldent describe myself as a fan, it implies they will buy anything from an artist no matter the quality. However i did see them live 5 times, in 1986 and 1987 (twice) when they were the best band i had ever seen, then again in 1988 they were mediocre, and at one in 1989 i thought they were pathetic, and i told gira just that while they were between tracks, i shouted 'get rid of those pathetic musicians' gira exploded with rage at me shouting 'shut up cocksucker' !!! .... how sad

  • Is it me or this the most fucking covered song in the world? The only good version is the original by Joy Division! Even the Cure's version sucks...and I love the Cure!

  • the woman at the begin of the song looks like courtney love

  • @humanheadcheese You are absolutely correct. Don't feel defensive, this version is a brilliant homage to the original and yet clearly The Swans. Anyoen who says otherwise is utterly lost. No point worrying about them.

  • @Cruiserweight9 giras feeble death rattle !!!!!!! the beast was dead, he should have fucked off to be an accountant, or produced new order album, swans died 31 december 1987, last great album c of god, last great skin album s h revenge, after that it was the folk club.

  • @birdandthe This is the best version of LWTUA, aside from the original. I respect your love of the Swans at various stages, and it is always hard to see a band change from the path you want to travel alongside, but don't begrudge them this epic reinterpretation of one of the greatest rock songs ever. It achieves a grandeur and heartscalding beauty that is of a piece with the finest of Ian's intentions. And that is all that matters. This is a thing of beauty forever. Enjoy it.

  • @birdandthe Please spare me the absolutists who demand a band stay forever in the era they prefer and never undertake anything new. I like the passion, but the mindlessness I can do without. This version is superb and just shows Gira's incredible range as an artist. Loosen up, you'll feel better

  • @Cruiserweight9 i never said they said they should forever stay the same, so try to understand the English language, to me this style smacks of mainstream pop, not good enough and slightly depressing, whereas joy division were not trying to depress people, and he obviously was not faking it, I find giras vocals on this patronising, and even slightly ridiculous, like the paul young and other dreadfull attempts.

Im putting up some swans live from 86/ 87 in the next month (unreleased )

  • As a massive fan of Helmet, the greatest band in history, someone told to give Swans a listen as they were 'in the same vein'. I'm sorry to everybody who love this band, but the two are nothing alike. The sheer power, timing and groove of Helmet up to the mid-90's surpasses anything by any band who use amplified guitars.

  • i hate covers, but really, this one has the spirit

  • I don't tend to like cover versions, but this is something different. So soft. The expression on Gira's face makes me wish that I could touch his skin with my hand. It looks so cold and marble-like.

  • Do the lyrics change during the last chorus? Am I hearing this correctly?: "Love will tear HIM apart...again"

  • why do people on youtube compare artists and bicker when a cover is done? jesus, just enjoy the music

  • heard a few covers of this song n love the original. this is ok the best bit of it i really like the haunting female vocals in the chorus.

  • think this pat cover is shite by the way peace---------------

  • hare this guys yanks or brit????any1 please

  • @britdude1961 yanks my dear.....

  • <3 the swans. joy division is great too though

  • Ummm....its the other way around. New Order came into existance after Ian passed and the remaining band members of Joy Division moved forward with N.O.

  • Joy Division were New Order under a different name same as Split Enz were same as Crowded House..

  • New order were joy division after ian curtis hanged himself, i would compare more to foo fighters after nirvana, nowhere near the same band but deeply involved..

  • I'm a huge Joy Division fan, but this is their worst song. Swans did it totally better.

  • I just think its a great cover!

    Hope I dont offend anyone........

Too bad it ends halfway through though!

  • Na - crap vid - got the ep.
