Латинците са загубили 300 рицари в битката.Цвета на западното рицарство по думите на хронисти от тези времена.Била е мащабна битка,защото всеки рицар е имал малка армия от копиеносци,мечоносци,пажове,бл­агородници и т.н.Колкото по-знатен рицар е бил,толкова свитата му е била по-голяма.Само за сведение в най-мащабната Средновековна битка-тази при Грюнвалд 1410 г.,поляците,русите и литовците избиват 230 рицари,със 70 по-малко.Правете си изводите сами за каква сила и мощ иде реч!Поклон пред Калоян!

super vide, samo imam edna zabelejka : promeni zaglavieto na tzar ili imperator, shtoto King = Kniaz = Han. A Tzar = Imperator=KhanasUbigii. Taka che Tzar i King ne e edno i sushto.

kipchak cavalry had a reputation for near invincibility in the 11th and 12th centuries. no balkan warlord or byzantine emperor could have won a decisive battle without their aid.......if kaloyan fights this battle without kipchaks the outcome would in all probability be entirely different.

Kaloyan was no "balkan warlord",but a King,acknowledged by the pope and the Byzantine emperor,and in his reign Bulgaria became the major forse in South-Eastern Europe.The Bulgarian army in his time was highly trained and discpilined,and the tactics he used in the battle of Odrin(including Cumans) was brilliant and the history shows it :)

yeah sure.during the battle of serres (few monts later) Kaloyan defeated crusades without cuman support.this time both armies have equal strength and most importаnt - the battle took place in a

flat field where the crusades can use all potency of their cavalery.but in fact the Bulgarian heavy cavalery totaly smashed them.

kaloyan won the battle using kipchak (cumans) cavalry, without his kipchak mercenaries he wouldent have stood much of a chance.

The Cumans just run away from the knights and then the Bulgarians took them in trap and defeated them.

@bremenlegation If Kaloyan didn't have cumans, he was still going to win. Why? The Bulgarians had very big spears ( like the ones later in Scotland vs English knights ). The Latins were going to charge with their lances, but in the last moment, the Bulgarians were going to pick the spears and stop the charge. The horses will die, and other Bulgarians were going to kill the fallen soldier.

This is the tactic Kaloyan used after the battle of Adrianopol. So, logically, he was going to use it.

@xxpoonednoobxx Споко пич :) Заеби ги куманите. След Одрин Калоян има 3 битки с латинците, които ръководи той- Сяр, Русион и Родосто (при втората пак ги използва, но не в бой). Аз не можах да намеря информация какви точно копия е имал там. Единствената информация, която намирам за оръжия е за използваните ласа и копия с куки в битката при Одрин. Мисълта ми е това с дългите копия, дето ги вдигат точно като дойдат рицарите да не би да си го гледал в "Смело сърце"

@iliyaDZ Казвам че е имало хора които са поваляли рицарите с копия и оттам са ги убивали. Не е от филма с Мел Гибсън, просто това е най-добрият начин за разбиване на тежка конница. Иначе никой рицар няма да влезне в капана. :)
