  • Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff's MUSIC has truly touched my life. Ever since I was young boy their MUSIC has been a great inspiration and will always be a part of me while living on this planet called earth.

I hope and pray that their MUSIC is appreciated in heaven. I thank them for not only their contribution to the MUSIC industry but to the human spirit. Thank you Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff and thank you GOD for creating such beautiful MUSIC.

  • Don't leave out the Delfonics, Intruders back in the '60's.

  • They cut and pasted her performance. The entire thing used to be on here... DAMN! I want the whole version back :(

  • I remember buying my first LP ever back in 1970 in Hollywood, California, and it was a Gamble & Huff production......The LP was : " " THE ICE MAN COMETH " "

Who else ???? The GREAT Jerry Butler ! ! Never Give You UP !

No matter how you treat me.....................Sierra Cuban, Miami, Florida

  • It makes me happy that these two are still alive, since so many from their circle have died too young. Teddy Pendergrass, Harold Melvin, Gene McFadden, John Whitehead...just to name a few.

  • It really takes an idiot to believe that "white America" made Soul Train a legendary success...tsk, tsk, tsk, poor fool.....On a positive note, Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, by their own musical history story, were destined to become a musical team. Once united, their genius, creativity, and hard work earned them not only an induction, but the respect and admiration of fans and musicians for generations to come! May God continue to bless and use them to continually touch and inspire humanity!!

  • I still think Don Cornelius should've inducted them because if it werewn't for Gamble n Huff writing "TSOP" Soul Train wouldn't have ever crossed over to white America and became the success it became.

  • @rufus317 false u don't know anything bout soul train then must have been the only episode u have seen

  • Gamble was once great, but he turned into an Islamist.

  • @MyBetty111 Minister Kenneth Gamble CONTINUES to be a great individual for the things he has done for the Philly community from building homes and community centers in the inner city to making sure his music catalog reaches a new generation of listeners. His belief in Islam does NOT take away from his greatness.

  • Wow! A chance meeting brought us a 40+ year soundtrack of soul stirring music. Surreal!

  • and 5:10, Billy Paul is singing with a cigarrette in his mouth. Unbelieveable.

  • Honestly, they should make their story into a movie. So many great songs and groups. Just love everything about them.

  • I hope people like these get special points in Heaven. When you help people out by way of their careers or anything, to me that is LOVE.

  • How did the Ojays reach the Rock and Roll HOF before Gamble and Huff? Does that make sense? They should have been inducted during their first year of eligibility. Period.

  • We will be listening to, and loving the music produced by Gamble and Huff decades from now, for one simple reason: what they wrote appeals to something deep inside, and is not subject to fad or fashion. Bravo to both of them, and thank you for posting this great video.

  • I, for one, am lookin forward to Patti's induction...

  • I think it is shortsighted to argue one writing team over another. Holland-Dozier-Holland contributed some great hits to our culture but of course so did Gamble and Huff. That is the beauty of art. Artists create their own style, sound and feel and the people benefit. Gamble and Huff most def. had their own distinct brand--very unique and funky sound. Holland-Dozier-Holland also hand their own sound. I would argue that both groups of writers enjoyed each others music.

  • Y'all are very childish for still comparing singers. This person sings too loud, this one is boring, this one this, this one that. Shut that shit up and watch or dont watch the video. Why click on a video of a person you dont like to say stupid shit? It makes no sense. Patti AND Gladys are BOTH great!

  • cant forget Thom Bell and Linda Creed..

  • The Godfathers of House Music, Dance Music and The Philly Sound..G & H!

  • PATTI KILLS IT!!!!

  • Gamble and Huff are legends, they were a great songwriting team, incredible

  • can't stand la belles voice.

  • Why?

  • then why in the hell would u click on this clip out of the millions on youtube??

  • are u crazy

  • get down with the philly sound here from nyc but love the philly sound it was the best motown is wedding gamble and huff put the bow tie on funk. class god thank god for the philly sound. and sal soul lol thank vince

  • The O'jays, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, etc. This is a wonderul honor but still not enough. They deserve even more!

  • something strange about this vid, one year ago there was another version of this induction, some guy with beard, playing the piano or sax was announcing Patti, and i miss one very high note she did.... Who knows who has been cutting this vid?

  • Patti was good but the band was tired. If you ever hear her perform this with her band you will notice the difference how the band knows how to roll with her and knows how to pump Patti up and help her to take us Over the Rainbow.

  • I agree with you.....they needed HER band to play this. Cuase if you watch any other video of her singing this song..she WARES it OUT!

  • They're almost as good as Dozier and Holland.

  • jjjones77....I take nothing away from Dozier & the Holland brothers and what they did at Motown, but Gamble & Huff was the legendary 1-2 punch that put Philly on the map. And as opposed to Dozier & Holland who were really working for Motown, which was already established for 2 years before they walked in the door, Gamble & Huff made it happen under their own label, which was Philadelphia International. Almost you say??? Try BETTER! ;)

  • Holland-Dozier-Holland, wrote all of the Supremes hit songs along with the Four Tops hit songs. Holland-Dozier-Holland established the Supremes and 4 Tops who were hitless until they started writing for them, and once they started writing for them, the rest as they say is history. They aint got nothing on Holland-Dozier-Holland. That motown team wrote more hits than Gamble and Huff.

  • Both teams were fantastic and I think my comment was a little disrespectful to the GENIUS of Gamble and Huff. Legends no doubt about it. While I'm at it I want to give a shout out to Mr. Norman Whitfield and Mr. Barrett Strong.

  • Gamble & Huff two of the greatest songwriters ever......I salute you.

  • I want to say THANK YOU to both Gamble & Huff for providing the soundtrack of my childhood: Philadelphia International Records!

  • These cats are my idol strings dope rhythm and banging drums and that rhodes that's that Philly sound dope producers and true legends thank you for creating some great music.

  • I was there with as a guest to Gamble and Huff, this was the most amazing performance ever.

  • She's over singing. Patti is one of the best but she has some bad live singing performances when she oversings. You can't say that about Gladys.

  • what was so bad about this performace that she did here? When Patti steps out on the stage to sing people aren't expecting Gladys they are expecting Patti and when she turns it out like she did here that's what her fans expect!

  • i think gladys sometimes is boring

  • I'm glad this amazing dual got this honor. They made a lot of people stars.

  • he said skunk ape, am i the only one that caught that? lol

  • I'm so proud of Mr Kenny Gamble and Mr Leon Huff!! I was born and raised in Philly and never knew what true gems I had right here. As much as I was into music I knew who sung the song but to know this team wrote and produced so many of the songs I love. Wow!!

Thanks Mr Gamble and Mr Huff I truely appreciate your talent and your contributions.

    Many blessings!!!

    From a true Music Lover.

  • the band SUCKS!
