When I saw my first Portlandia clip I was praying they'd do something on imaginary yuppie alergies and diseases. High school and early college during breaks I worked at an ice cream place on a part of Cape Cod where you got both working class locals and tourists of all colors, and plenty of upper middle class lily white Volvo drivers passing through, en route to more upscale parts. Guess who had all the food allergies. Hint, the ones with kids named Madison, Aden, Cailin, Finn, and Dakota.

Hilarious!! I worked at Pok Pok for 2.5 years, the Pok Pok Players float killed me, can't even begin to count the people who came there and grilled me on their hardcore peanut and/or shellfish allergies, telling me they can die and jamming me up for soooo long about the issue and insisting they were eating there still and asking me how we were going to keep them safe or alive during their meal/experience...which was draining and difficult at best being that peanuts and shellfish were EVERYWHERE!

The front guy in the Soil Punks group cooked for Food Not Bombs for over 10 years when there was one Saturdays in the North Park Blocks. He is definitely NOT allergic to soybeans -- all what he cooked week after week for over 10 years was this concoction made from tofu (from Ota Tofu Co.), green bell peppers and curry powder, same thing every week, pretty much guaranteed.... heh. :)
