These taste just like Taco Cabanna..I live in Colorado Springs n I cldnt find no one who makes them like I like them..The meat is always dry n tough..Thanks so much for sharing:)
i was born and raised in texas and the mexican food is awesome. i recently moved to chicago and the mexican food here is terrible i asked them if they had carne guisada at this mexican resturant and they said they never heared of it. i now want 2 go back home lol.
I think that lancerwest guy that also did a carne guisada just basically re-did your video. Everything was the exact same way you did it to the T, even in the measurements and all.....LOL oh well, to each's own..I will try this and then comment on the outcome, thanks for sharing!
I am from the Rio Grande Valley and this is how you make authentic carne gisada. This one some home made flour tortillas and we're talking serious eating. This is usually served with rice and beans and tortillas de harina. Are you sure you're not from Brownsville TX?
I am latina and I live in the texmex capital of the world. I don't like cooking but I think it's because I am not a good cook like my sister. I tease her that her food is so good because she cooks with love. I must tell you I made this recipe for my family and my husband actually liked it<3 Recipe was so easy to follow thanks!
Toledo Ohio doesn't provide many opportunities for Tx Mex like I could get in San Antonio but this recipe really fills the void. This is now one of the family favorites. Nice job.
Love your recipe. I'm from Pharr, TX. and I love carne guisada especially with refried beans, mexican rice and homemade flour tortillas. I'm making this tonight =)
It might be nyc's version of mexican food. the closest to what i grew up with is tequila's on 2nd and 7th and Las Palapas on Church. If you know of any other place. Do tell!!
just one comment, you can substitute chicken broth for the beef. It's more flavorful. Everything stays the same. Very authentic. -from a native tex mex mom.

@Hewhosmokeswomen - I do visit San Antonio at least once a year. And yes, it IS the center for all things Tex-Mex.

this turned out very similar to what you can get in a restaraunt. delicious
i would suggest more chili powder and some yellow rice as a side instead of sour cream and cheese

Just about every cantina in the 5 boroughs has Carne Guisada.
Don't be afraid to go in and eat at these places. The food is always good and at even better prices.
