That's absolutely my opinion! With missiles which can strike from 100+ km away at a speed of Mach4 there is no sense in optimising an aircraft for dogfights... try and dodge a mach4 missile -> not happening
dude, thats the same mistake we made in Veitnam with our F-4 phantom. We figured no need for dog fights any more then the veit cong got Soviet Migs made for dog fights and we we're up the creek without a paddle as to how to destroy the things. Missles aren't as reliable as you'd think...
unfortunately you cant shoot without having visual contact. FOF reasons, and rules of engagement. If BVR was the case the Beautiful Tomcat would still be slinging Phoinix missles at the baddies from over 100 miles away..
I bet IN-n-OUT swiftly, BVR warfare, fire-n-forget, is alot more worth than achieving 9g faster than you can use, in times where missiles will ALWAYS be outmaneuvering any jet, OVT or not. (espec IR missile)

unfortunately you cant shoot without having visual contact. FOF reasons, and rules of engagement. If BVR was the case the Beautiful Tomcat would still be slinging Phoinix missles at the baddies from over 100 miles away..

I bet IN-n-OUT swiftly, BVR warfare, fire-n-forget, is alot more worth than achieving 9g faster than you can use, in times where missiles will ALWAYS be outmaneuvering any jet, OVT or not. (espec IR missile)

nice, but its still not my philosophy
A: leave maneuverability all to thrustvectoring
B: optimise shape and wing for stealth and supercruise
C: optimise all radar and electronics for BVR Warfare (heavy X-band radar+jam)
dogfights are easily winable with a good 360 IR missile and thrust vectoring, it wont just ever happen. Its all BVR nowadays, Fire n forget, stealth.

This is certainly the most beautiful bird i have ever seen. It looks like a pigeon, light at the bottom and dark at the top. You would think its just a bird in the sky that would hurt no one. Just looking at it flying, you feel like hugging it :)

Good video.. all the landing gear testing clips gets old after it comprises the first half of the videotho... maybe mix that up a little more with other parts of the vid...
Also good choice of music, but don't start one and then abruptly end it for most of the movie to pick it up again at the end...
