  • I'm from Argentina, the first time i heard about langston hughes was when i was a teenager. A very well known writer. A genius which had a strong influence in Latin America intelectuals. A social writer, fighting against human explotation and now, searching for a nice video concerning this writer i find this material. NIKE!! exploting childs and using langston hughes text for promoting this!!!!

  • can somebody please tell me the explicate this poem?

  • The poet is talking about the grievances blacks held up until the 20th century, some do still today. About not being able to have their 'dreams' -civil rights, racial equality and socioeconomic assistance-realized.

  • wow,thanx!:-D

  • @Meloman0001 Hmm, it took me a minute to recognize it, but I thought it was Langston Hughes... I think one of the most beautiful things about good poetry though is when Anyone can relate to it, in one way or another...

  • @Meloman0001 ...It doesn't date itself. I don't have to be black or white or male or female or an athlete or a singer or anything else to hear these words and think "Yeah, wow, there it is... He understands." It's not just about politics, rights, and equality, but about life. Everyone has a dream deferred.

  • Amazing how something innately beautiful, like a Langston Hughes poem, can be commercialized and used as a marketing tool.

  • Good point. Leave it up to Nike to use his work, and in the end not give credit. So some kid out there thinks that some advertising executive came up with while watching Jerry Springer.

  • think about it what does a dream do wen deferred.

  • our teacher made us watch this vid
