The majority is happening in poor neighborhoods. Unfortunately, most people don't make it out of the socioeconomic level they're born into. There are way too many absentee father's as well. I regret to say that in this day an age there is a high level of resentment and anamosity toward a black student male or female that choose to be different , get an education, wear a different style of cloths, and choose not to get high. The fact that Darrion was doing the right by excelling in school and not joining the gang, also played a role in the attack.

It's difficult to understand why so many reject what you're saying when what you're providing is THE obvious solution to the continued oppression of the black community. We are never going to get ahead as a people if we don't stop focusing on the wrong things. You're right about parents needing to raise kids properly but saying that Black people need to do better is like agreeing that they were violent BECAUSE they are Black. Don't get embarrassed by what Black people do and try to talk down to us. Don't tell us to stop doing this or that. It's not US. I'm no part of that nonsense. It's society at large. It ain't going to change. I grew up on the other side of the expressway from where this happened and I am now 45 and we used to do this kind of shit daily. WE Mexicans would meet the blacks in the park after school daily and fight. A few got hurt but nothing major until we got older and we all joined the major Chicago gangs. A number of guys from those fights are dead and or in prison. My cousin at 17 did a drive by on some of the m and killed 3. I myself got out at 22 after finishing college.

If you watch the video closely you can see Derrion punch a white kid who is running away after being trapped behind a car and beaten. He wasn't trying to help anyone, just get another punch in on a kid who was already getting his ass kicked.
