@Denzl2012 I might be incorrect, but they look like 'oggpoi' from flowtoys. They were made out of softshell mood lighting elements called oggz if I remember correctly. The oggpoi were discontinued because of change in the material of the oggz that made them unable to be converted into poi, so they're really hard to get these days.
@pierotekk Possibly, i just started poi the other day but i fancied making my owln. I just got these glowing balls from b&q for £1 each and some braided rope. The balls had little holes in them so i took the section with the led out and threaded it through and tied it before super gluing it back together. Of course i then tied some knots for the handle. I'm not very good at poi spinning but the glow cycle while spinning just looks amazing in the pitch black!
I am loving this tutorials but as you said don't move on to the next step untill you have our current step in your memory. Well I am doing that but there is onesmall problem! I don't know which stepcomes next! Could you please please please number your tutorials so we all know what stage we are at! Thank you! I am learning really fast with the help of these thanks guys!
I thought i was able to do a 3bw, watching this vid, made me realize that i only did a 2bw, back to the beginning i guess. Pois rule, thanks for the lessons Nick
@Albert420ful Hey Al, im facing the exact same problem, but as i understand it one hand must mirror EXACTLY what the other one does, thats the trick with the 3bw, the moves in the middle of this vid are vital (over, under, back). If you try this with both hands till you can do it without counting you re halfway there. I for one am farther away than ever, because i thought i could do a 3bw, but in reality i did a 2bw, But nevermind, motivated me like hell^^. Keep on swinging. Pois rule
I figured this out tonight, and couldn't be more thrilled, I'm already working on ways to transition it in with the other stuff I can do. Thanks for making all these videos!
That steering wheel analogy helped me so much. I was sitting here getting frustrated then I just said screw it and started spinning forwards split time and pretended I had a steering wheel and it just popped. Thanks so much
Recently I have shifted my attention to teaching poi and have found that many of the moves that I can do very easily are actually very difficult to explain to beginners.
These poi basic videos from Nick and the playpoi crew break down poi step-by-step in a humourous and enlightening way.
Nick has made learning poi so simple that literally the most uncoordinated and unconfident person in the world could understand the basics and find a groove in a few lessons.
Awesome! Glad to see your doing so many new tutorials. (b^_^)b Granted I already know how to do the 3 beat weave I'm glad to see a lot more tutorials coming up because it means playpoi will be able to help me out even more than it already has.

Is this some sort of youga-meditation-weed-mantra-rave-yin-yang-piercing-waterpipe thing?? Do you have to be fuzzy and have elf ears to do this??
varfordogjesus 1 year ago
@varfordogjesus You'd think so by watching this video... why are American men playing poi? It's for Maori performing arts, not hippies.

Nick and crew, you are the best!
I couldn't believe it; I totally got it on the third try!
I practiced the 2-beat weave all week and made sure I had it down pat before trying this. It made the 3-beat a breeze!
Correction, YOU GUYS made the 3-beat a breeze! Thank you, Playpoi!
