Never said "hi fidelity or very high quality"! It is high quality towards its initial selling price and physical dimensions :-) My title is self-explanatory.
Needle is ND-143G. Cartridge can be pulled of the arm to assist removal. Problems usually are to do with the arm belt stretching over time - it is very tiny and difficult to replace but not impossible. I cured mine by putting a rubber shim round the arm motor pulley. Mine is the inferior PS-Q3 which is belt drive - actually has two belts which are the cassette beck type and prone to stretching but it is such a cool deck it is worth the effort!
I own one myself. it´s a great machine! The only fault is the weird cartridge it uses. It wont let you use other stylus besides the original one. I´m trying to adapt another cartridge so it can play with an eliptical stylus. :D
I noticed that the tone arm moves in an unusual way, suggesting that it tries to behave like an angled arm instead of a straight arm, which is excellent in reducing tracking error to negligible levels.
Sony apparently put a lot of thought in the design of this portable turntable.
I bought a second hand Sony PS-Q7 today and while looking for information on the internet regarding this little beauty, I came across your video. Do you have any information on this device, as I can't seem to find anything on the internet in regards to the Sony PS-Q7.
it looks fun, but you can not call it hi fidelity or very high quality (do I have to tell the reasons? :)) its a nice toy , anyway ;))
