  • @shecky308 Hi it's the Seymour Duncan Seth Lover Model 1101-20. SH-55n (Neck)

  • Hey ,what is that model no.for the current pickup on your gb-20,thanks.!!!

  • thancks for lessons victor good job, desde España un abrazo y gracias

  • @francescbass Gracias Amigo, I stopped yesterday making scores for YT,no body is willing to pay a fee anyway and now they can do it the old fashion way by ear, nothing wrong with that, Saludos Amigo,Vic.

  • Wow. What a cool vib! Very smooth. Very sophisticated improv.. The line that starts at 1:38 is stuck in my head. You have so many good things to say in this improv.

    Heel goed gedaan Maestro.

    allen

  • Thanks Allen, dank je wel, I see you know some Dutch too, very good. I've always liked compositions from D.Ellington, their mostly simple form is logical yet always with a nice twist here and there, that melodic fragment you referred to has altered notes over the C7 chord. Greetings till soon,Vic.

  • Hey Vic , How goes it! Great stuff. I just did my first attempt at a chord melody. I don't know all the chord inversions so I used what I could. Check it out please. Tototwice Satin Doll. I'm doing the Jimmy Bruno on line lessons...............KEEPON STRUMMIN.........DALLAS

  • I'll check it out and comment, this is always good Stuff to work on, greets Vic.

  • what kind of neck pick up is that?

  • A seymour Duncan humbucker,greets Vic.

  • Thanks Daryl,I love those old standards, always a decent chord progression and well composed, thanks for dropping in,Vic.

  • I'm a 15 year old guitarist, and I just love your videos; this one especially. Great improv and tone!

  • Thanks Ultimate, nothing wrong with Blues and Rock, love it but this is definitely another tradition, something you can chew on the coming years, greets Vic.

  • wow, fantastic!!!!!!!!

    precision..

    I like it

  • Hi Motown121, It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that Precision, greets Vic.

  • Like the feeling you impose on the piece Vic. You give me the impression that you are more confortable with Jazz compared to other styles. Is it like a love affair between you & Jazz?

  • Well Sunny,as I make a living from Music(playing and giving lessons) I must be able to play different styles, but you have a fine ear discovering that my first love is Jazz and Blues,I just love swing, I like doing finger style because of the possibility to play melody and chords simultaneously ,greets Vic.

  • WELL...You did it again !!! I'm fast becoming a fan...Loved your version of Satin Doll..Hoping to hear you live one day, but it's a long way to Vidalia, Ga..

    Paul  (((((((@))============%%%

  • Thanks Paul, that's great man cause if you like finger style Jazz and Blues you're my man and certainly you'll enjoy my channel, greets Vic.

  • Hi Victor , from Colombia I like your plastic style in your guitar, can we have some other video with other songs in order to play?

example wave,or some music of joe Pass or Pizzarelli?

    regards

    Tony

  • Hi Tony don't exactly understand what you mean by "plastic Style" . I play my own style and improvisations on standards and if you want to hear those other guys you mentioned,go ahead they're all on the Tube,I'm certainly not going to imitate them, greets Vic.

  • I never heard a bad Ellington tune Victor. I sure heard some that are difficult to play. You make it sound too easy man. Love this.

    Keep 'em coming... John *****!

  • Thanks John, nice hearing from you, you're right the Duke was a great composer, arranger, I love his tunes. I think you can nail this one John, greetings Vic.

  • hey is this song just different variations of a 2-5 progression?

  • Hi phish well this is much more than that, check out the chord sequence(fake book) it still goes through several different keys, greets Vic.

  • oh my,,, one of my all time favorites X

  • hi Xtina, and did you enjoy it? Vic.

  • my fav and you do it sooo well! so smooth. great listening.

    thanks so much!

  • Thank you,I never heard a bad Duke Ellington Tune.Glad you enjoyed. greets Vic.

  • Amazing sound, tone and tempo. I can't wait to watch some of your other videos. Keep them coming!!

  • Thanks, you asked for tabs but I mostly work by ear and make my arrangements as I play and practice,I have nothing tabbed out, 90% is improvisation by the way, enjoy my other Stuff,if you have theory questions, mail me,greets Vic.

  • you sound great victor. keep up the good playing, and have a merry christmas. =D

  • The same to you, thanks for your nice comments, greets Victor.

  • merry christmas and i cant wait for all the other good music that you will put up next year

  • I certainly won't let you down,greets Vic.

  • amazing tone

  • i own a semi-hollow jazz guitar. its an ibanez nothing much

but i was wondering if i could get the tone quality to sound anything like yours

the sound of your guitar is killer

  • Hi, don't underestimate those Ibanez guitars they're good craftmanship, this is also Ibanez I'm playing on a GB-20 (George Benson-concept) I changed the original pick-up(soap-bar) for a Seymour-Duncan humbucker whitch I think has a fatter tone, also experiment with tone setting on your Amp,don't use too much high and accentuate the bass a little, all the best Victor.

  • We played this a lot (many years ago) in high school jazz band. I love it. I can close my eyes and all I can see is your fingers slow dancing up and down the fret board. What model guitar is that?

  • Yeah, once a good composition always a good one and Duke made quite a few. This is an Ibanez GB-20(George Benson) this one is taken out of production some years ago.The smaller Model the GB-10 you still can buy. Greets Victor.

  • Hey Vic. As long as we are talking about Ibanez hollowbodies I was wondering what you thought of the Ibanez Artcore series. I recently recieved a large sum of money (well, large for me, a 16 year old) from a long deceased relative (long story). But some how the money made its way to me. I am considering buying an Ibanex Artcore AG75 or a Fender Standard Strat. But I am unsure on the quality of the Ibanez. This would be my first hollowbody.

  • Hi Thrashmetal, good for you with that Money, I don't know that Ibanez type(Artcore AG 75) but I know that Ibanez doesn't make crap, once I played a Lee Ritenouer and Joe Pass models and all where fine instruments, so I would say,go for it,if it feels good it IS good, hope to welcome a young Jazz guitarist here on the Tube soon so we can pass on this wonderful tradition, greets Vic.

  • Wooooooohoooooooooooooo!! Awesome, Victor!

    Keep'em comin'. *****

We've talked about this problem a few times,

but I think, the data stream is to much!

Click this video via internet and check if it's OK.

Nice tune, beautiful chords and solo.

Watching you playing seems so easy, but after

that I realise how difficult it is to get so far.

  • Thanks Renold, you're right I learned to play guitar in a time with few distractions and especially when I got in the conservatory bag ,I began to realize what a ritch heritage the American Songbook- Culture had left us to explore, there's so much there,it would take a lifetime, greetings Victor.

    Steve

  • Hi Steve, everyone goes through that stage,I think it's important you have a person(teacher) that can teach you the trade and addaption of the tools and ofcourse everyone's got to put in his(her) hours of daily work turning theory into practice, thanks for commenting.Victor.
