@dayane972 I recommend that you only use alcohol to remove your lace wig and clean your hairline. Limit the use of hair products (shampoos, conditioners, etc) that contain too much alcohol. It will dry out your Malaysian wig. Thanks!
@asiancaramel With any other adhesive I would not be able to layer. With spirit gum it is so gentle and is easily removed with alcohol - no need to scrub or use harsh chemical removers. Call for a consultation and I can walk you through an easier clean up process - 1.877. 4 SL WIGS (1.877.475.9447) Thanks!
@MyFifteenMins I recommend a glueless lace wig or full lace with adjustable straps in the back. I am not a fan of shaving hairlines. Call me to have a free phone consultation - 1.877.4 SL WIGS (1.877.475.9447) Thanks!!

OMG!!!! You are so knowledgeable which is such a great help to a beginner like myself! Keep up the great work and keep the videos comin' girl!!! Smooches!
FYI - If your lace perimeter is turning white or looking crusty you are using WAY too much. Use less and work in small sections at a time. Do not wait for the glue to dry. Use a brush and go back and forth until you feel resistance = the adhesive is sticky = perfest time to press lace into glue using a comb.

I recommend leaving 1/8" of your own hair out with a sew in method. This will yield a more natural look. Also, sew onto an inverted cornrow (braid on the inside) for a flatter appearance.
my big problem with these full lace wigs is the aftermath, i ve alot of baby hair and it is difficult to go beyond it otherwise it ll look fake. but here again i cant apply on my babyhair which i dont want to shave it so it be come a problem, and when i do apply on my bhair then removin the adhesive from it is a hell. i cant use my wigs tht i spent so much money on. pls tell me somthin
I have the same damn problem! LOL! It takes me a good 3 hours or so to pick all the little sticky balls of adhesive out of my baby hair filled hairline! There is no way that I'm gonna shave my hairline back though! I still wear my wig and then suffer later though! I find it easy to work with NOTAPE adhesive by VAPON. It is not as rough on the hairline as UltraHold.
If you dont want to use glue on your hairline, and you dont want to shave your hair line back( which i dont recommend) you can use the sew in method, basically cornrowing your hair, and sewing the lace wig around the perimeter into the cornrows.. I use this method in my salon, and it still gives you a flawless hairline, without the glue.
Gosh it looks really complicated! But I guess with practice...:-) Just as well I read the comments 'cos I thot u could use the wig cap method with adhesives like Ultrahold! Given how 'long' it takes compared to the 'standard' method of application, how long can u keep the wig on for/how long does it stay on? Also if u use the wigcap method can u wash the wig, etc like you can a cane row weave? [i'v got virgin hair & I'm looking for a low-fuss alternative to weaves cos i like slick back styles!]
No, I don't recommend Ultrahold with this application method. There are 101 different ways to apply a lace wig and 1001 different adhesive combinations. The trick is to find what works for you and your lifestyle. I have alot of information on my blog that will help prevent alot of trial and error and MONEY spent on adhesives! Check it out at lacewigshouston*wordpress*com. Email me if you have any questions, thanks!
Nah! :) There ways to adhere that take less time and/or require no adhesive as well- adjustable straps or wig clips, tape application....the list goes on and on! Email me for more information. Thanks!
this is the first time i saw this type of application with the wig cap glued on is this something you came up with or is it a known technique in the hair industry. Its clever!! Call me stupid but i dont get the markings in the forehead, I didnt get it lol. Job well done.
Thanks! You can mark on your hairline wear the wig will be placed if you are unsure. This is helpful if you have no hair in a particular area. I don't mark because I can see my hairline clearly, but wanted to demonstrate for those who might benefit from the technique.
I see ppl with lace fronts ALL the time....and i can tell when it's one or not but ur hair...it's AMAZING!! i would've nvr thought it was a lace front. great job!!! <3
so for your method with the wig cap you can only do that with spirit gum? or can i do that with any adhessive. just wondering! thanks....you did a verry good app.
Thank you! I STRONGLY EMPHASIZE that I only do this type of application with Spirit Gum. Getting any other type of adhesive this close to your hairline will pull your hair out.
very good video - i like all of yours :) just wondering, if i've got this right?: wig cap, mastix p, pull wig cap down over that layer then more mastix p the cap to your forehead? when you were tracing around the lace on the unit, you were able to still see your hairline through the glued down wig cap? thank you in advance - you are a beautiful spokesperson for shoplw
Regardless of the adhesive you use - always allow the adhesive to become tacky. I do not "touch" the adhesive while wet - it will turn white. I use the back and forth motion of the brush to determine if the adhesive is sticky/ tacky. Spirit Gum does not take long (@ a minute) to become tacky. Other adhesives may take longer.
Definitely if it is a humn hair wig. I prefer Remy hair that is single drawn. ShopLaceWigs*com ONLY sells this type of hair. Even better would be an SLW Boutique or Couture Virgin wig to minimize overprocessing the hair. Be sure to deep condition the unit each time you was after adding the hair color. Thanks!
@MsBeautifullOne 2-3 weeks. Longer for some - but I like to remove my wig after 2-3 weeks to wash my hair and cleanse my scalp. Thanks!

Both - it overlaps both. See my latest SHOPLW blue liner lace tape application video. Thanks!

How do you apply syn wigs? Is it the same process?
CharelaLee 2 years ago
It depends on if your wig has lace all the way around the perimeter or not. Email me and I can guide you through the process. Thanks!

I wanted to know for attaching the nape...should I attach it onto the wig cap like you did in the front or should I attach it on my skin?
Also I just bought one of your wigs and wanted to know how to keep my lace wig moisturized?
Please make more videos on how you style your lace wig, how you tie it up at night!
can't wait for my wig to get here!!!!
TheDolcelove 2 years ago
Hi Dolcelove,
- You can overlap the adhesive and/or tape between the wig cap and your skin at your nape.
-Spray leave in conditioners are great - I like Fantasia IC leave in (it has an aloe vera plant on the bottle - clear liquid in a brown bottle).
Thanks for your questions!
