Information regarding the rift between the Maharishi and the Beatles can be found in Cynthia Lennon's autobiography 'A Twist of Lennon', and in Mia Farrow's autobiography (I think it's called 'Things Fall Apart'). Mia is historically the woman who was harassed by the Maharishi, and she goes into detail about this period of her life. It's very interesting for Beatle fans to read someone else's account of this time at the ashram. BTW, the Maharishi passed away recently.

Beautiful pictures, wonderful story and it comes absolutely across, that this was a very very special time for all of them.

Why then later these sexual asault stories which also still stick in my mind?? Even if the Maharishi threw them out because of drugs - why would they start such nasty rumours?? Anyone knows reliable sources about that?

i read a story, (so this is hearsay about hearsay ) that one of the Beatles hangers on, who also supplied their pot and so on, invented the story to get them out of there, as his future was challenged by a Beatles without drugs. All other accounts that I have read of the Maharishi, by those close to him, say that nookie was the farthest thing from his mind. I do not know why Mia Farrow does not come forward and clarify this.

Maharishi abused children, and the beatles went home hastily when John caught him trying to seduce some of the female members of the party. The song "Sexy Sadie" was originally called "Maharishi" but they changed the name of the song to avoid complications

According to a recent Deepak Chopra interview, he and friend George Harrison met with Maharishi in Vloodrop, Holland in 1991. Maharishi asked George to tell Deepak the story of why the Beatles left the ashram in India under clouded circumstances. George told Deepak that the Beatles were taking drugs while there. Maharishi found out about it--after Ringo and Paul had already left--and he told George and John to leave.
