@WingoStar313 its a james brown track.. on another note this isn't the original version to this song i have it on vynil and it s way sicker than this one...
@WingoStar313 I'm pretty sure it's from possibly the most-sampled record of all time, James Brown's "In the Jungle Groove." The horn sample is from "Give it up or Turnit A Loose", but the live guitar riff that sets it up is altered from the original.
Yes, the Butcher IS the man. I'm in a club in Lansing, MI right now and he just came up to the booth to chat with me. I haven't seen him in over a decade. He's actually spinning at a club across the street from where I am right now. Good to see him again and see this video again for the first time in many years.
This song was cool for about a week in the clubs (in the EARLY 90s) until you saw it on MTV and realized just how lame the lyrics were. "He had some doublemint gum, so he put it in his mouth, I guess he enjoyed the taste". I mean c'mon now. That's lame even for Rap still being in its early stages.

No offense...but this blows. Why? There is a version called "The Devil Came Up To Chicago" which is almost exactly like the original C.D. song, but house music, and no rap... it's primo, but where can you find it now a days?????
@SinsterKO Ive got the chicago version on a cassette tape somewhere. I recorded it off the radio back in the day. Wish i could find it. This version, although almost exactly the same, seems ridiculous compared to the chicago version.
i have all 3 versions of this on cd ripped of course this is the remix the background fillins are different all you here on this one is hey , hey, hey on my other version it's not on there and i have the bass version also
I think I know what version everyone's talking about. I have an MP3 copy, but the first 6-7 seconds are pretty fuzzy. Otherwise it rules! Thanks AJ1059x for posting this.
I agree, I rememer a bass version of this. Im glad I found this though I have been looking for a long time for this. Does anyone hve the bass version???
Let me clarify what I do know is fact. Lead singer - Tracy Edmund, has a gospel song out. Was on the Evan Almighty sound tract. He is a pastor of a church in lansing. The lord does work in mysterious ways! Blessings to him and his family.
Naw. Lead singer went to prison. Butcher's still cutting it up in lansing Michigan last I heard. Sarge is out of prison now. Heard he was going to do a gospel hip hop album. Slim and stretch dancing. LOL!! They used to break it down...>LOL!!
I am a little embarrassed to admit this but I had this CD and the song on the CD was much better than this remix with the annoying track overlaid over the song.
Agreed! Awesome find by the way, I taped this song off the radio as a kid and used to listen to it all the time, but haven't heard it in the last 15 years. THANKS!
yup have all this on cassette singles 2
