I couldn't help but laugh at all the comments about American Psycho. lol It's funny because I was thinking the same thing when I heard it. Now I feel like watching the movie. This is a great song.
In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock.
Am I the only person who remembers this track in the brilliant film 'Mona Lisa'? it really fitted the film perfectly, Bob Hoskins is a minder for a high class prostitute (played by Cathy Tyson) he's well loved up with her but he can't have her, she likes him but she's looking for her lover (another pro) who works the streets in Kings Cross. It came out in the 80's and its a really good film, it shows the dark side of the sex trade.
****kissin test****hold ur breath, the c+p this to another vid. if u can w/out having 2 gasp 4 air ur an awesome kisser II DDIIDD IT barely its soooo HHAARRD
I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford.
yeah i agree albums from from earlier '70s and '77(selling england by the pound for example) are far more complex than post 1979 albums like abacab n invisible touch.
Clearly you play no musical instrument nor do you understand music theory and composition. Post 1979 Genesis is trite and simplistic. Appealing to the masses without a musical ear or training. Pablum for musical infants. 1970-1977 Genesis is much more adventurous music, with more complex chord progressions, tone colour, and lyrics. Post 1979 Genesis is not even worthy of the name Genesis. Don't even try and defend Duke, voted widely in 1980 as the worst album of the year.
dude, the technichal shit doesnt matter, its all about whether you like how it sounds or not, and this dude obviously doesnt like genesis from 70-77 and hes entitled to his opinion
Hey man, I love the Gabriel Era, but I still think Duke is a kick-ass album. I have studied musical therory and I play four instruments, so don't come calling me a musical infant.
What? You must be joking? The Lamb was written in 74, Suppers ready was written in 72, cinema show and firth of fifth in 73, trick of the tail in 76, great songs and albums all.
"In Too Deep" is the most moving pop song of the 1980's, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock.

this song reminded me of when i buried my father just four days after he turned 77 and when my family-in law(my late wife's father and seven sisters alienated me from my family and friends) told me that he deserved it and that they didn't have to apologize for ruining my dad's life.
