@PeteyGRaves My I ask why you chose the tuning of EBGDAA? It seems just like a drop tuned 7 string. Though as a guitarist it makes perfect sense as it its easy to get low and you can bar chords to get an a heavy effect. But why avoid the 7 string? It almost seems easier than having to set up your guitar. Though regardless you guys rock.
@ImIntoAnimals This isn't my song or even a song by a band I am in so I wouldn't be the one to ask. That being said I have used this tuning before and have written songs in this tuning that are now played on a 7 string guitar. Why? Because playing in these sorts of tunings forces you to play in a different manner to what you might normally do, and it is when you are doing that that you can more easily force creativity.
Since I have heard bands like the safety fire , periphery , red seas fire , tesseract ect it has come the point where these bands compose riffs like this and all you can think " fuck yes. " PeteyG , I gotta hand it to you man.
@willismanson1971 To gain endorsement deals from any company you really need an audience of people who listen to your opinions and guidance, or who just idolise you so much that they will buy whatever you buy. I like to think my audience is the former, the idea of being idolised bothers me, and I would hope that I attract an intelligent, intellectually interested and interesting group of people.
I can see why this is a favorite riff of yours. Also, this may be an odd comment for a guitar video, but the lighting and camera work is really nice. Ha.
fucking great vid Petey. Quick question, as I'm deciding on details for a Setius I'm buying. Do you prefer the gloss back or the back on your Mayones guitars?
@radicalsoundblast You haven't looked very hard for the answer to that question have you. Try looking through the rest of the comments, I gave the answer to someone else.
@gianniswildchild Not meaning to be pedantic, but people always seem to get that wrong, it isn't so much that Mayones endorse me, but as an artist endorsing a product I in fact endorse Mayones.
@gianniswildchild Most endorsed artists still have to pay for everything, maybe with discounts. It's only the big names who get stuff free, and even still, not always.
@stringslayer97 We used to call it "drone" tuning when RSF used it (before we switched to 7's). I first heard it used on Sandblasted Skin by Pantera, but I've known SikTh to use it, as well as Cry For Silence (one guitarist did, the other used an 8 string).
Nice job man, great playing. This is also one of my favourite riffs of the year. I'm more excited for this album to drop in February than I can remember being in a long time.
Out of curiosity, how much time do you spend practicing daily/weekly? Not asking for insight into your personal life, that's yours, but between playing, the timeframe videos you create, and (I assume) working, it seems like a lot of time might be hard to come by.
@koranae I don't really practice very much, generally the practice I get is stuff to enable myself to play ideas or songs for my band, but nothing really much more than that. I give it about an hour nightly if I can, but this isn't always the case.
@m4ssee I always love people like you who believe their opinion > everyone else's. I thought this riff was sick too, and Pete did an excellent job covering it.
@PeteygRaves Wait. I thought the 1st string was the thinnest string. Am I wrong? I thought it was backwards from what you would think. I heard another musician say what you said. Please confirm?
