well if you live in desolate areas of Canada yes u have to wait to see a doctor. In the cities though you can book an appointment anytime the week of. The only con really is that we have to wait about 2 months for a minor operation. It's not like they would make you wait 2 months to have bypass surgery though lol. And yes there are waits in the hospitals but if you seriously sick or injured they will get you in there right away.
I and my fellow Canadians laugh at all this back and forth rhetoric! We solved our problem 50 odd years ago, you would think a counrty like the US would start to wisen up to good ideas in the world, but that would mean it wasn't an AMERICAN solution... oh my! Here's an idea. You keep your for profit system and leave our superior system alone, we like ours you like yours. Although I will point out that the instant we get more general practitioners, our wait time problem is solved. GOOD SYSTEM!
Actually America will need an American solution to expanding health insurance. Gov't coverage for 300 million Americans would be more complicated than for countries with smaller populations like those in Europe.
I am an American living in Spain. There is total universal health care here plus a thriving private insurance system. I pay 50 bucks a month and don´t wait in any lines for health care. I hope that Americans will support a system like this. I am not worried about the private health insurance companies being able to survive a public option. I am worried about the millions of Americans who can´t afford coverage in the US or are denied because of pre-existing conditions.
I agree that we need reform, but instead of having the option of several insurance companies where all to but one may reject you, you risk putting it in the hands of the Gov't and Death Panels who may reject you as well (in the form of malpractice or being misdiagnosed). I want the option of being able to choose multiple coverage plans, given my current situation. ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES (public and private) are bowls of shit, as an American, I can choose the one that smells best!
Typical Liberal. Instead of giving some type of input as to where is arguement is, he'd rather just name call. Well, you see my intellectually challenged friend, I can do both. Name an institution of the Federal Gov't that isn't, or has not been, corrupt, inaffective, underdone or completely faliable altogether. Don't worry, I'll wait...
A guy in this video is from Acure Health Corp. (which is a private health insurance company) is the spokesperson for trashing public health care system. Seems credible !!
Hey you guys know how lovely a trip to the DMV can be. Well wait till Obama care takes over Healthcare. A visit to the Doctor is going to resemble the same experience. "Take a number and wait for your number to be called."
You're clearly an idiot. Our Federal Gov't often cuts funding in emergency services (or pushes huge taxes on the States, in turn causing them to cut their own funding of these sectors) to fund some public entity, such as this garbage healthcare plan. Hmmm... Social Security (check), Welfare (check), Public Schools (check), Obamacare (get my picture?).
Given the length of time to complete medical school, residency, and then become a specialist, why would doctors wish to practice in Canada where some accountant tells them how much they can be compensated and how many patients they must see?
Good thing Canadian medical schools are one of the best in the world, so the Canadian government can outsource their doctors from India and China and force them to treat their citizens. Might sound unfair, but better than being a doctor in North America than in Asia.
1:42 into this video the conservative think tank that sponsored it does what conservatives do : point the finger at someone else for what they do.

Both systems are not perfect, but the WHO ranks Canada ranks #30 in the world for care and the USA ranks #37. Canadians also live longer.
