@funnybff100 Firstly, theyre sociable animals and tiny, so definitely get a pair, its only fair, from the same litter (less likely to fight, make sure theyre the same gender). A glass tank or cages designed specially for dwarf hamsters/mice are best. Equip with a wheel coz they love to run. When taming, best to let them get used to your voice, then your hand in the cage. Give them treats when they come to your hand. Hope this helps :)

well, roborvski hamsters are made to run, and they arnt very tame, i jsut got one , and was dissapointed in the fact they dont like to be held, most robo hamster very very rarely ever bite, does ur hand smell like food ? and mine runs away too, but shes likeing me better but i let her out twice a day and let her run free in my bedroom ( under supervision) (and all doors and open scaes closed beacause shes to weak to push her exersizeball. then i put her on the bed and let her run on my hand

You shouldn't bathe them, hamsters clean them selves alot and when u bathe them they can get sick and get real stressed.

Our two hamsters like this would fight and our best solution was just to get them their own cage. I would recommend that. =)

Do your hamsters ever fight? I only have experience with winter white and campbell's dwarf hamsters and I think they'd probably have killed each other if I'd left them to live together as a group. I always had to keep them on their own, even though many of the books say that it is only the syrians who must live solitary. Do your robos all live together?

i own over 30 roborovski hamsters

i have a group of 10 living together ,a group of 8 and 3 groups of 3 and i also 3 living alone

i guess it just depends on their temperment

i have found that the closer they are to you the farer away they are from there cage mate for example if you leave them alone they will be better with each other however if u play with them alot they are more likely to fight as they have your scent all over them

i got a russian dwarf named lilly then i got a winter white named snowball. snowball died before she turned white:(. later after like 2 years lilly died :(. then i got two more russians named amazon and carnation. then carnation died. after that my mom gave me two teddy bears but i didnt know 1 was a boy and the other was a boy. dixie (the mother) has now 10 babies while fluffy (father) and amazon live alone. there is my hammy story. btw cute hammys!hard 2 catch

I got two females (10 weeks old) 2 days ago and they started fighting and sqealing (it's really frightening), and one had bit the other's tail and it was bleeding so we had to separate them! :-(

Luckily we have a rotastak cage so it was easy to make two separate enclosures out of the stuff we had. They seem to be getting on OK on their own but it's sad that they don't have company!

robo hamsters are supposed to be alone. They tend to fight with other hamsters like yours did.Good job on seperating them before it was too late.lol. but dont feel bad about them getting lonely they prefer it.

Unfortunately, on Day 3 (the day after we seperated them), the one that had the bad tail died! So we returned the other one and got two russian dwarfs as replacements. Howver, these ones started fighting too and the little one didn't look well so we had to separate them!

- Syrian (aka Golden, Teddy Bear, Black Bear, Panda, etc). They're big and easy to tame. You can only keep 1 per cage as they fight.

- Roborovski. These are the smallest of the hamsters. Active and hard to tame.

- Campbells. These tend to nip more when annoyed.

- Winter Whites. A bit smaller than Campbells. WWs also turn white in winter.

There are others but these are the most common.
