  • So the key to help me become a better Sol Badguy player is to get those FRC's down for the GF's. That's something I need to work on.

I also want to work on getting those clean hits with the uh... 41236HS? That one move where he fire punches forward in the air. I've been trying diligently on that bounce-off-the-wall and repeat.

  • 4:01- "notice that the more reps you do, the more manly you feel".. yes it does make me feel more... manly..

  • what should i do in order to use FRC?

  • @narutoblebb2fan hit 3 atk buttons example punch kick slash at the same time

  • how do you do that long grand viper at the end?

  • GOOD VIDEO, lmakira!! i'll try to pull off these combos later... practice and more practice if i want to play better...

  • this is a really good basic sol tutorial. and has helped me a bunch thank you.

  • Is there an input trick to gunflame frc -> dash so that you can "cancel" into a dash the very instant you frc the gunflame?

I've tried to just input f,f dash as quickly as I can after an FRC GF but even when I'm expecting the frc to work, the resulting transition from FRC to dash doesn't seem to occur as seamlessly as compared to match vids.

    any particular tips?

  • What I had in mind is..

I'm not really an I-no player but there's a vid of her (air) hcl, frc ->air dash where you somehow buffer the air dash command during the input of her TK->(air) frc hcl and she'll basically cancel into an air dash the very instant you frc chemical love.

I'm wondering if Sol may require something like that for his GF,frc dash although abit less complicated probably.

Or is practising to input dash (6,6) as quickly as possible after you frc good enough?

  • So, if the SW is a clean hit, they shouldn't be able to tech out of the wall bounce before you get to them, right?

I've been able to pull off some basic SW loops in casuals against friends, but didn't understand why they were able to tech so often. Must be messing up the clean hit. Awesome vid, so thanks!

  • @ViolentAngel17

The first CLSW is pretty much untechable (56 frames of untech time) but each successive hit has reduced untech time, which makes landing more CLSWs harder. So the first is easy and the second is still easy but after that it's more likely your opponent can tech out if you don't get your timing right.

The thing that overcomplicates the matter is that the timing also depends where on the screen you are (midscreen/corner) as well as the character you're fighting.

  • I like this video because my name is in it. LoL Thanks for the pointers.

  • Thanks, this video has been really helpful

  • After the 2nd sidewinder they always seem to tech ? Can you only land 3 if they dont tech ?

  • No, you can land as many as 5 or 6 CLSWs as a true combo. Well you can even do more but it gets a lot harder and it's pointless to try in real matches.

If they're teching after the 2nd CLSW then your timing is off or you're not doing the right combo.

All combos in this vid are guaranteed - in fake combos the BEAT counter goes dim as it means your opponent could have teched out.

  • from what i've read about sidewinders, people keep telling me about clean hits, but they never actually say anything about the conditions for achieving a clean hit. I can't seem to nail them anywhere close to reliably. All i can tell is that to get a CL you need to hit them in the chest or neck at close range. Is there anything i'm missing, or do i just need to grind it out until i can pull it off consistently?

  • Basically, every character in the game has a hitbox when they're airborne and being combo'd. For a CLSW you need to be close to the character and you need to line up the hitbox of the SW move with their CL hitbox, if you see what I mean.

It all comes down to practise and experience I'm afraid. Try them on Zappa or Potemkin first, they're pretty easy to combo. Some are a lot harder than others (and the CL hitbox varies from character to character).

  • I practiced a bit and can now land a triple CLSW - knockdown loop on Pot, semi-consistently. And i do say semi :)

i spose i'll just work my way up the list until i have a general feel for what works on who. Thanks for the quick response.

  • It just comes down to knowing where to hit on the opponent's sprite and timing your moves/air combos/jumps to ensure that your SW is going to CL there.

After quite a while you'll become more accustomed to it and you'll feel more comfortable. You can then start experimenting with super jumps into CLSW or even just tk CLSW from 2HS.

Don't forget, things like the weight of the character and the distance to the corner will always affect things too.

  • I tried doing this combo for so long and failing. Then I realised it was cause it don't work on Ky.

Maybe you should mention its somewhat character specific?

  • What combo are you talking about?

None of these combos are character specific, you need to take into account where you are on the screen as well as the fact all characters have different hitboxes you need to strike with the CLSW.

  • The first combo (K, S, 2D, 236K) wouldn't work on Ky no matter where I was on the screen and whatever timing I used.

  • No, the combo works on Ky 100%.

You are probably starting the combo too far away. Always start 5K combos close up. Dashing momentum will help too.

  • Same thing happend to me. It's because you have to be running while you do the combo or the final V V or BR wont work

  • No you don't (well not vs most of the cast) you just need to be close enough to begin with.

  • Oh.. Good vid though :D

  • Thanks, I think the sidewinder tutorial will help me out. You should do these for all the characters :P

  • ho w to do that blue thing that switches my hits faster?

what bottos i need to press for this?

    punch+kick or what ?

  • the FRC ... press any 4 buttons except dust, the timing is very strict and varies between characters, just in case..if you are using bridget you are screwed ! bridget FRC's are the hardest ! I can easily do all characters FRC's except for bridget's... : S

  • Thats a false roman cancle, firstt you should learn the regular Roman cancle.

Just hit any three attack buttons while ur attack hits to perform the roman cancle for 50% of your tension....the false is performed for certain moves at certain times, only uses 25% and doesnt even need to hit....when your in training mode turn on input display and when it flashes blue that's when the frc an be done

  • i see, thank you

  • 4:02 YuS, I Do!!!! ^_^

  • I just started playing the GG series and many ppl advised me to pick Sol 1st to learn the GG system and such, thank you very much for this tutorial :)

  • Cool, glad you found it useful.

  • Very MANLY!!!!!

  • they should make this for venom

  • Thanks for this

  • Very nice job.

  • good job, i learned a a bit about sol from this that i didn't know before.

i hate being on the recieving end of that gunflame frc throw

  • So... does this mean you play Sol now too? :)

  • Well I've played him a little in casuals for a while now, I just did this mainly for new GG players using him over here.
